Mix 06-12-2026

Here we are with another Mix article! I have been adding more topics that I would like to write about for an article, so here I am to write a new Mix article. I usually have a bit of difficulty thinking of something new to write about because I feel I have exhausted so much that there is nothing new for me to write about. Still, lately I have started thinking about or coming across some things I would like to write about more and more. For some reason, it seems my brain has become more active, which has led me to come up with something I would like to write about. I am starting to get a little more motivated to write some articles or reviews now, so who knows if I end up writing more than usual in the next few months. Even though I am starting to think of more things to write about, I would greatly appreciate it if some of you could continue to pass along information to me or suggest a topic for the next Mix article or a separate/single article.

Mix 06-12-2026

So, here is the list of the topics for this Mix article, and I hope that at least one of them or more topics that you would enjoy reading! Plus, they are a great way to keep track of the topics where you left off if you don’t have time to read the entire article, so you can leave and then come back to this article to pick up the topic that you were left off to read more or to finish reading!

Start with me first

I am sorry I haven’t been able to publish more articles or reviews in a short time or more often. Lately, I have been off, struggling to motivate myself to publish several articles and review articles as I used to for many years. I can remember when I started, I was churning out as many articles as I could, which kept me consistent for many years. Being consistent is very important, especially if you are a blogger, journalist, reviewer, or content creator like I am. I was very focused on writing as many as I could, but I must confess that as I get older, I started to struggle with that, so to stay consistent, which I know I have failed to do for the past couple of years or so. Even though I struggle with that, I continue to dig up as much as information that I can get my hands on so that I can have something to write an article about or to find a brand or company to send in their products for a review here on JoshiesWorld, I have noticed that it’s becoming harder to finally get some information that I think is worth for an article, and also it’s getting harder to push JoshiesWorld further so that JoshiesWorld can be easily recognized enough for some brands or company to send their products in for a review. Some years ago, it was easy; I was able to connect with some well-known journalists, bloggers, a few celebrities, and also have some connections with some brands or businesses, so that they knew to share some information or to get in contact with me, and to send any new products that they have for new reviews by JoshiesWorld. But now, some of these bloggers, journalists, and content creators have retired, quit, disappeared, while I continue because it is my passion. Journalism is one of my most important passions, and it includes blogging, reviewing, and content creation. I think the biggest problem here, as a blogger, journalist, reviewer, and content creator, is that many people want to stick to a single platform that offers everything. By one platform, I mean something like Facebook. Facebook has everything that we would need, and that is what is slowly taking us, who are journalists, bloggers, reviewers, and even content creators, out.

It is a reality we, as bloggers, journalists, reviewers, and content creators, have to accept. But that doesn’t mean that we should just put our hands up and say that we give up. Since we know it’s reality, it’s important to consider what we can do about it, and one of them is to adapt to it and creatively strategize how to keep up with it. Adopting isn’t the only thing some of us need to do; we also need to figure out how to avoid burnout. I think being burnt out is more critical because it can cause some of us to call it what it is and give up. Being on the edge of being burnt out isn’t a fun place to be in, as I have gone through that a few times, a few more times than I would like to, but thankfully, I was able to find my way back to continue doing what I am passionate about. Not only that, all of you who have been supporting me/JoshiesWorld since day one or for a while now are also the reason I keep writing and reviewing articles. To continue creating some content for some of you to enjoy reading or watching. I appreciate all of you! I am not going anywhere as long as I have your support, because it is what helps me carry JoshiesWorld through the ups and downs. I am going to continue writing articles, reviewing some products so you can make an informed decision before you buy, and creating content on social media platforms for you to enjoy!

Plus, being Deaf and disabled does throw some obstacles in the way from time to time. If you take a close look, you can see that many disabled people have a hard time growing their supporters or followers. For some reason, some brands, businesses, and people are hesitant to do any kind of deal with them. For example, a collaboration opportunity or seeking their honest feedback by writing a review article or making a review video about their products. Speaking of having the products that a brand, business, or person would like to receive an honest review from JoshiesWorld, please read the “Request a Review from JoshiesWorld” page.

Another thing with me: for a few weeks, we have been dealing with our HVAC problem, and it happened at the worst time because we are at the beginning of summer, which means it’s getting hotter outside. We had an HVAC problem last year, but it got fixed somewhat quickly, so we didn’t really suffer much. This time, it’s taking a good while to fix because they said the parts for our HVAC are getting harder to find, and that we need to consider buying a new one. I think I saw online that the government or a company stopped making certain HVAC units and their parts last year, but I am not exactly sure which ones. So, the local HVAC business has been struggling to find parts because they no longer make them or are having a hard time keeping up with demand. Finally, either yesterday or two days ago, we got a call from someone at the local HVAC business saying they had found the part. Still, then that person happened to be on a vacation for about a week, he said he didn’t want to tell us how much it would cost for the part until he got back from the vacation, because he wanted to make sure that we accept the price for the part first before they would order the part. Still, we told them we needed the part like yesterday, so he quickly called his HVAC business to order it right away while he was on vacation. That was kind of him to do that during his vacation time. Now we have to wait until the part has been shipped to the local HVAC business. As soon as they get it, they will come over here to replace it and get our HVAC working properly again. They told us it might be on Monday or Tuesday, so we are just waiting patiently until then, the part has been shipped.

The HVAC part that needs replacement is the blower motor. We would be charged a little over $1,000 for the part and labor. Yes, I know it is somewhat expensive, especially given inflation, rising costs, and whatnot, but it is still cheaper than buying a new HVAC, which would cost around $10,000. Our HVAC is 8 years old. It was still supposed to be under warranty, but for some reason, someone from another HVAC company didn’t register it with our HVAC company, so we ended up losing the warranty and the money we paid for it, which I think is unfair. But I know in a few years, maybe a couple years at least, we will have to start thinking about getting a new HVAC, and when we do, we’ll have to make sure that if we pay to extend the warranty, it is registered! Right now, our HVAC still operates, but when it gets too cold, it stops, so it needs a blower motor replacement. So, we try to use the HVAC only during the important times of the day, such as a little bit in the afternoon, then again a little bit in the late evening, and then a little bit during the night before we get ready for bed. But most of the time, we rely on only one window air conditioner, and it’s only good for a room or maybe two, while the rest of the house is too warm for our liking, so I cannot wait until we get our big HVAC fixed! If you have HVAC or air conditioner that you haven’t used yet, and you are waiting until things get more warmer or hotter in the beginning of the summer then I suggest that you double check on your HVAC or air conditioner because who knows there might be something wrong with them so that you can have a chance or time to have them fixed before things get too warm or hot.

But other than that, I am doing well, even though I am not looking forward to feeling warm or hot when I am outside. If any of you know me well enough, you would know that I am a big-time winter person because of the cool or cold weather. Oh, how I miss the winter already! What about you? Are you looking forward to enjoying the summer, or, like me, trying to push through it and hoping the fall or winter gets here before we can blink?

A bit of history of the Kentucky Derby, and the BIPOC America people

Before I start writing a bit of history of the Kentucky Derby, and the BIPOC people, BIPOC stands for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. I want to disclose to everybody here that I am obviously a white person, and I am only here to share their history, but for the depth of that, I highly suggest that you ask someone who’s a part of the BIPOC community. Now, one of the Kentucky Derby’s most notable moments is the story of a black American jockey named Oliver Lewis, who was born into slavery and won the first inaugural Kentucky Derby race on May 17, 1875. The horse he rode at the Kentucky Derby was named Aristides and was trained by another enslaved American black man, Ansel Williamson. That isn’t all; there was another enslaved black American jockey named Isaac Burns Murphy, who was also born into slavery, raced in the Kentucky Derby, and won three races in 1884, 1890, and 1891, becoming the first jockey to win three. Oliver Lewis was confirmed to be the first American black jockey to win the first Kentucky Derby; however, Isaac Burns Murphy was unconfirmed (because of Jim Crow laws) to be the first black American jockey to win the first Kentucky Derby, but it was confirmed that Isaac Burns Murphy did become the first black American jockey with three victories, and that record hasn’t been matched for decades. The names of the racehorses that Isaac Burns Murphy rode that won three of the races at the Kentucky Derby are Buchanon (1884), Riley (1890), and Kingman (1891).

During the 1875 Kentucky Derby, 12 of the 15 jockeys were black Americans. These black American jockeys won 15 of the first 28 runnings of the Kentucky Derby. However, these black American jockeys were systematically excluded from important roles in horse racing due to the Jim Crow laws and severely discriminated against by white people, like my skin and my ancestors. Because of the treatments that we white people had towards them, and the Jim Crow laws that white people like us enacted who try to find any way (such as loopholes) to get around the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863 along with the 13th amendment in 1865 that legally abolished the slavery that was signed by President Abraham Lincoln, to oppress them because white people can no longer enslave them since President Abraham Lincoln made it illegally to do so. These black American jockeys no longer raced at the Kentucky Derby, or mostly any horse races in the United States, for about eighty (80) years before they started coming back to race the horses once again at the Kentucky Derby, along with other horse races in the United States.

Here are some sources, some information, and videos about this:

FIFA World Cup 2026 concerns

As the United States will host the FIFA World Cup 2026, 11 of its cities will host 78 of the 104 matches from June 11 to July 19. We should be concerned about this because Ebola is becoming much harder to contain. There was an Ebola epidemic a few years ago, especially during Barack Obama’s presidency, where we were able to stop them from getting ahold of us. Still, now this time, it is a lot harder to contain Ebola. Now, since the United States pulled out its support for the WHO (World Health Organization) under President Trump, the WHO has been drastically weakened, as there is no longer enough funding to pay for the teams of health professionals, doctors, scientists, and whatnot to travel over to different hotspots to try to contain something from getting out of hand. The United States has significantly cut funding (exceeding 50%) for our Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which has also been weakened after losing around 3,000 workers, which is roughly a quarter of the workforce. Last year, President Trump pulled $11 billion in direct federal support for the CDC, which was diverted from other health agencies under the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Now, the Trump administration has proposed replacing the CDC’s Global Health Center with a “fee-for-service” model in its FY2026 budget cycle. Fee-for-service is a model in which an employee or someone is paid for every task or job they complete. Think of it as having a landscaper come over to your House to mow some grass, and once that person finishes doing the job, you will pay that person for the job that this person completed. Next month, you don’t think that you need your grass to be mowed, so you decide to skip the next month, and wait two months to rethink if you need your grass mowed, then you call your landscapper back over, and then you would pay that landscapper once that landscapper finishes the job. Now, that month between the first and third, when you decided that your grass didn’t need any mowing, so that the landscapper wouldn’t get paid for that month. That is pretty much how it is: fee-for-service.

That is a bad idea for two reasons. In CDC, you need someone to monitor every kind of disease and virus daily, but let’s say, the government will only pay that person for half of the month for monitoring, so that leaves two weeks of not having anyone to monitor them, and then during that time, Ebola reached the United States. Still, the problem is that the person who monitors would miss them, because that person was only allowed to monitor for two of the four weeks, since the federal government set the fee for which task.

So, let’s get back to the FIFA World Cup 2026: the United States will be one of the hosts, along with Mexico and Canada, which means we have people from some of these Ebola hotspots coming to North America to play in the tournament. Especially DR Congo, which is a country in Africa that is having an Ebola outbreak, and one of the teams playing in the FIFA World Cup 2026 is DR Congo, so you imagine that. All it takes to make it a domino effect is having a player who happens to have Ebola to travel over here in North America from DR Congo, and many passengers in that plane will have a high chance of exposure to Ebola because of the air conditioning in the plane. The air conditioning on a plane only uses the air inside the plane, since it obviously cannot use outside air, as airplanes are pressurized when they go into the air. Back then, when there was an Ebola outbreak, it was tightly contained in a small place in a country or two that did not have infrastructure such as trains, airplanes, and whatnot, which was the reason that we didn’t get an Ebola outbreak here in the United States or the countries in America, such as North America, Central America, and South America since they didn’t have the access to airplanes, trains, and even vehicles. Now, with the FIFA World Cup 2026, they make sure these players for the DR Congo team have transportation to the airports so they can fly here to play in the tournament for their country. Yes, this is something that not only we Americans, but also many other countries need to be concerned with. It is just the wrong time, but it is a planned sporting event, obviously, since it is the FIFA World Cup, so they don’t reschedule to another time or skip until the next year.

I made a post on Threads warning everyone to keep an eye out for that, so here I am, doing the same. If you are planning to go to any FIFA World Cup tournament, then I’d suggest that you cancel to minimize your chance of being exposed to Ebola, which is fatal, unlike COVID. The best thing that we can do is keep an eye on it by reading and watching the news. We must keep ourselves updated on Ebola outbreaks, the FIFA World Cup 2026, and other current events, since we must always be in the know.

The Impacts of the AI Industry Booms

I just finished reading an article by Joe Wilkins on Futurism, titled “Electric Company Says It’s Cutting Off an Entire Town So It Can Sell All Its Power to Data Centers.” The article discusses an electric power company in the Lake Tahoe area, on the border between California and Nevada, that will cut off the entire town’s power to sell electricity to AI companies powering their data centers. Customers in this area would have to find a new electricity supplier, a process that would cost millions of dollars. Because often, in different regions of America, such as different counties in different states, there is only one company that provides electricity to residents and local businesses, so one electric company monopolizes, as there would be no other electric company or alternative in the area. When there are no competitors, they control costs, knowing we would have no choice but to pay them to have electricity in our homes or businesses. This is one of the reasons we are seeing electricity companies keep asking counties in different states for permission to raise prices/fees every year, using any excuse they can think of, and they often get approved. This is why we need to have more than only one electricity company in our areas, so that if something like this happens in our area, where they suddenly stop servicing us, and service the AI data centers entirely. In doing so, we will be trapped in the dark. It will force our county, or even our city, to raise taxes on us so they can hire another electricity company to provide us with electricity. In doing so, they will need all kinds of equipment, which costs a hundred million dollars to set up a new power station, so that we can get electricity from it. No, we won’t be able to share the power station or substation from that electricity company we’ve been getting our electricity from for years, until they decide to stop supplying electricity to us for AI data centers that are coming in or are already here. Because that power station or substation is a property of that electricity company, and obviously, they will refuse to share some with other electricity companies or with us, because they’ll need all of the resources from them to charge up the AI data centers, so we will need new power stations/substations regardless.

Here’s the link to the article: https://futurism.com/science-energy/town-power-data-centers

Now, we know that we are in an era of rapid growth in the AI (artificial intelligence) industry. At that fast pace, AI companies are constantly buying land to build data centers, so they can continue offering AI to many businesses, government agencies, and even us customers. Is a data center just a building with employees working there? No, it’s not what you think. Inside that building has hundreds to thousands of servers running 24/7 with massive hard drives, with huge amounts of advanced processors, guzzling so much of bandwidth using the networking infrastructure such as internet, think of it as one computer that need ten to twenty or even more seperate internet connections (not shared) but thousands of them which is the servers in hundreds of racks (think of it as one very tall DVD shelves). If you have used a computer, such as a tower desktop or laptop, you know how quickly they can get hot when you do anything heavy, like watching or editing videos, playing games, and so on. Still, a rack with many servers in it gets so hot within a few minutes. Still, we need them to keep running, so what can we do to keep them cool? Fans? You are right, fans. No, not the small fan we see in the back of a desktop tower or inside it, but many industrial fans that also run 24/7, just like these servers do. It’s not just industrial fans keeping the servers cool; they also have multiple air conditioners to keep the servers and the entire building cool. That’s it? Nope, not even close. They also need a lot of water for their liquid-cooling technology (like pipes), which keeps the servers cool, and they consume tons of water nonstop every day. So we circle right back to the electricity, to operate the data centers, they need termous of power, often more power than how much the electricity to power a city which is why in this case that the electric power in Lake Tahoe is shutting down their electricity to the residents, and divert all of the power that they have directly to the data centers so that they can operate.

The residents in Lake Tahoe are now on their own, forced to find another way to get electricity or decide what to do. Their hands are pretty much tied; they may find some temporary fix, such as electricity generators, whether stationary or portable, but that will still be hard on them because fuel costs are rising with no end in sight as long as there is a war with Iran. Maybe the National Guard can come down there to help the residents with a few things. They have some kind of very large electricity generator that can be towed by some military vehicles or semi-trucks. They would usually bring them to places hit by a disaster, where the electrical infrastructure collapsed, and it would take several days, weeks, or even months before they could get the electricity back on. Here is an example so you can get an idea of what they look like: the National Guard or FEMA would bring a few or several, depending on the impact in the area and how much power the impacted homes and businesses, including hospitals, need.

I feel bad for the residents in Lake Tahoe and the surrounding areas, who are dealing with this because of an electricity company that chose greed, prioritizing profits over serving its community. It is brutal for what they are doing, because it’s not just shutting down their electricity, it’s because they hardly gave these people a notice that the electricity company would stop supplying the electricity to these customers, so that they have all of the resources to supply the electricity to AI data centers, and leaving these customers with no alternative or anything. That power company should come up with a plan such as informing the state government or the city’s government that they would no longer be supplying the electricity to homes and business within’ a year or two years ahead so that can give the state or city’s government the time to come up with a solution which is more likely to make an luractive offer to another power company to come in to supply the electricity to these customers in time before that power company shuts down their electricity. The state or the city’s government would probably end up footing the bill for having the new infrastructure built for that new power company since that electricity infrastructure that they were using before cannot be shared with any other power company because that existing infrastructure is owned by that old power company who will be shutting down the electricity to their customers, and start entirely supplying the AI data centers electricity. A lucrative deal from the state or city government often involves providing half or full funding for equipment, tools, supplies, hiring workers, properties (land), and other items needed to build the electrical infrastructure in that area or region. In that deal, they would throw in a few years of a tax-free guarantee, during which the new power company, or any company, wouldn’t have to pay any tax on the profits they generated from their new customers.

The electricity company won’t be the only problem the residents will have to worry about, because it’s not only the electricity that the AI data centers need; this also affects access to drinking water. AI data centers consume large amounts of electricity and water, more than a city can typically supply to residents or local businesses. What is worse is that AI data centers will expand as they earn more profits, to serve all kinds of customers who use their AI, such as civilians, the military, corporations, utility companies, foreign countries that need or rely on AI, and others.

The residents in Lake Tahoe aren’t the only ones who are being affected by this whole thing, the boom of the AI industry, because right now, as I am typing this, there is a good chance that they are looking for some land near where you are to purchase to build their AI data centers on it. Often, you will not know about it until they are already halfway into building their AI data centers. There is an example of that near the Mingo-Logan county line in West Virginia, where several data centers have already been proposed by companies such as TransGas Development Systems, the Adams Fork Energy project, and a few smaller companies. The Republican Governor of West Virginia, Patrick Morrisey, has already announced that deals with them were done or nearly done, and the people in both Mingo County and Logan County weren’t aware of any deals in the works. The governor, along with the data/AI companies, kept that secret until the deals were already made, so the residents wouldn’t have a say in it because it was a done deal. It’s not only Mingo-Logan counties in West Virginia, just a few miles from that area, but on the side of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, there are $33 billion AI data centers and a power plant planned by SoftBank Energy for Pike County, Kentucky, which is projected to be the largest in the world! Pike County is the largest county in Kentucky, and the county’s seat is the City of Pikeville. This project involves a 9.2-gigawatt natural gas plant to power a 10-gigawatt data center and is expected to create 35,000 construction jobs and 2,500 permanent jobs. The $33 billion from SoftBank Energy is a part of a $550 billion US-Japan Strategic Trade and Investment Agreement. SoftBank Energy will be primarily responsible for the power plants supplying the data centers invested in by some AI/data companies.

Just a few days ago, the City of Pikeville announced that they are conducting reviews of potential data centers at its Kentucky Enterprise Industrial Park. Kentucky Enterprise Industrial Park in Pikeville, Ky, is a 1,000-acre site available to any business or corporation looking for space in Pike County, Ky, with over 300 acres of available greenfield sites and a state-certified build-ready site. With 8% of that zoned for industrial development as of now, that share will continue to grow as more companies come in to look for sites to build on, such as data centers and other facilities, including factories and manufacturing facilities.

I am sure that there are a good number of people who live in Mingo-Logan counties in West Virginia and Pike County in Kentucky who aren’t aware of that until now, having read this from JoshiesWorld or other sources. Lake Tahoe, Mingo-Logan, WV, Pike County, KY, and others are not the only ones surprised to learn that data centers are being constructed or planned near them. This is just a small blip or a dot of the whole thing, as I said that we are in an era of AI and data industry booms, a lot of corporations, energy companies, data companies, and others are in shopping spree for as many as lands that they can find all over here in the United States, and as well other countries for them to have data centers to be built on. This is a big effect that some of us will be experiencing or having to deal with: making sure we have electricity, and possibly having to pay more for it since data centers consume a heck of a lot of it. It’ll be on us residents to pay for that through significant fee increases on our electricity bills. We residents may will have to pay higher price for our drinking water because the data centers consume so much of them that we will need to pay some company to aggressively refilling our water tanks on daily basis which I am sure that we’ll see that our city will end up adding more water tanks or larger water tanks to handle this so to make sure that we residents have the drinking water for drinking and to bath in while at the same time making sure that the data centers are getting enough of the water to keep their data centers cooled. Adding more water tanks or replacing them with larger ones isn’t a good idea because it means we have to find more water, and we are seeing droughts in many places because we aren’t getting enough rain or snow. So we will end up having to purchase water from somewhere at higher costs, and you know who will bear the burden of that, meaning that we will end up being the ones who pay for it by paying higher fees on our water bills.

Infographic on the Deaf community

A couple of weeks ago, I stumbled upon an interesting website that focuses on the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. For many years, we would have to do a lot of research online trying to find certain data on the Deaf community or people, and having different kinds of data on the Deaf community is very important because some of this information helps our government to get an idea of what areas in the Deaf community need to be improved. For example, the Deaf population in a country, state/province, region, or county, and city or rural area. So that the government can see what is needed for the Deaf community in their areas and secure funding to help them, it is one of the reasons why we must fill out our census, so that the government can have the data of the populations, and whatnot so that way they can make sure to get enough funding to cover some expenses in their areas such as how much funding does this public school needs to cover the costs of some students breakfast, and lunch especially the ones who comes from below poverty family. If half of the population in that area didn’t fill out their census, their representatives could come up with a funding cut, thinking that half of these students no longer attend one of the schools in their area or move away, and that would result in half of these students not being able to get free breakfast and lunch.

The bottom line is that it’s important to have data on different things, including the Deaf community, such as Deaf populations, and so on. A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon a website with plenty of real-time infographic data on the Deaf community, and I took a look at it; I thought it was a great idea and a useful resource. The website is called The Deaf World in Numbers, provided by Unusualverse Stats. Here is the link to it: https://stats.unusualverse.com

I must warn you that I am not exactly sure whether they are accurate or even close estimates. If they are, then that is even better because I think they can be used as resources by us, the Deaf community, when we deal with the government, corporations, public education, researchers, and whatnot. The data/information in the infographic we are seeing is provided by a Deaf person named Emilio Ferreiro Lago. I don’t know who he is, and I hadn’t come across him until a few weeks ago, when I discovered that website. I think most of the infographics on the website may be generated by artificial intelligence (AI), since they provide real-time data via a live feed. His brief public information says he attends Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (The Open University of Catalonia) in Barcelona, Spain; has a PhD with a Master’s Degree in Learning and ICT (e-learning); is a Deaf activist; and is an independent blogger at Unusualverse. The website not only provides data and infographics but also a wide range of resources and information. There are different infographics on the Deaf community and Deaf academics, guidance such as a guide for someone who wants to become an ally for the Deaf community, and more. If you have a LinkedIn account, you can check out his profile if you’d like to learn more about him. Here’s his LinkedIn profile: https://www.linkedin.com/in/emilio-ferreiro-lago/

Distrust in the National Association of the Deaf, and no thanks to the National Association of the Signers

Not too long ago, the National Association of the Deaf appointed Nicholas Kiego as its new CEO to replace the outgoing interim CEO, Bobbie Beth Scoggins. Even though Bobbie Beth Scoggins was somehow appointed to be the interim CEO of the National Association of the Deaf on June 3, 2024, because the former CEO, Howard Roseblum, had resigned somewhat suddenly after the Deaf community called him out for not being transparent with the members of the organization. It caused the Deaf community to distrust the organization during the last few years of Howard Roseblum’s time as CEO. The interim CEO Bobbie Beth Scoggins, the keyword is “interim”, overstayed her position as the interim CEO of the National Association of the Deaf because she has been an interim CEO for over two years. I am sure that she wished or hoped that the interim CEO would become the permanent CEO, but that didn’t happen because members of the organization, as well as non-members, became even more frustrated with how the organization was doing, which was becoming even less transparent, leading to greater distrust by the Deaf community in the organization. So, I think the board finally realized how awful she managed the organization, as the list of problems gets longer, and will be even longer if she remains the interim CEO. The National Association of the Deaf is losing members, resulting in declining revenue, and the organization is in a critical position that requires finding ways to secure additional funding to continue operating. The National Association of the Deaf receives millions of dollars in funding from various donors/sponsors, government grants, and more. Still, there will be a question, or there is already a question for the donors, if they should continue to donate to an organization that represents a community that no longer has trust or faith in the organization, so that is a bad look for the National Association of the Deaf.

The National Association of the Deaf is the oldest national organization in the United States of America, representing the Deaf community in the United States and, I am sure, beyond. Unfortunately, over the past years or decades, the organization has had a bad reputation for many reasons, caused by many people, including CEOs, board members, and whatnot. That continues to this day, because of the administration of the organization, such as the CEO, the board, etc., behaviors toward the people of color community, and the LGBTQIA+ community. They are getting into the habit of banning members from accessing their social media channels, censoring some members, and revoking memberships without due process and canceling the important events within’ a few days when everybody already paid for the hotel, flights, and whatnot instead of announcing that they’d be cancelling any event in long ahead of the time so that give the people the chance to get the refund or stop them from paying for everything and then get stuck. The organization’s missions, goals, and what it represents are great. Still, the people in administrative positions don’t reflect these, because it seems they only care about their positions in the National Association of the Deaf. In other words, they like to abuse their powers and be show-offs. The internal affairs of the National Association of the Deaf are nothing but a mess, including some board members, former board members, and former Presidents. The mess has been mounting year after year within the National Association of the Deaf. Even the ones who were elected as new board members continue to pile on top of that mess instead of pausing to clean it up by fixing problems in different areas, but they decided to add even more mess on top of it. For the National Association of the Deaf to finally gain some trust from the community, besides transparency, is to clean up the mess their predecessors made, and for the delegates to elect the right people to do so. The newly appointed CEO, Nicholas Kiego, and some newly elected board members now have a chance to clean up the internal mess and, hopefully, do things that would once again earn the Deaf community’s trust in the organization. Otherwise, they’ll be added to a long list of people who cause the Deaf community to lose trust in the organization. Congratulations, Nicholas Kiego on the CEO position, and the board members. Now it’s on you to turn the helm to the right path or the wrong path. Do better.

Because of the community’s distrust, they are trying to find any reason to form an organization, in some way, to replace the National Association of the Deaf or to do what it fails to do. There are a good number of Deaf organizations in different states, such as associations, clubs, and whatnot, but not a large organization like the National Association of the Deaf. Sure, every state’s association of the Deaf is under/affiliated with the National Association of the Deaf, but they are organizations too. Now, a few people in the Deaf community are trying to set up a new organization called the National Association of the Signers, and I think that is the most ridiculous idea I have heard of. The reasons that I think of that is because the organization they are setting up is for the Deaf people who can sign, hence the name, and at the same time that is blantantly dismiss the Deaf people that do not sign for some reason such as not wanting to do so, having their language deprived, who doesn’t know any signs due to not having any access to them to learn how to sign, and others. The National Association of the Deaf is an organization that represents the entire Deaf community, which includes hard-of-hearing people, senior citizens who have lost their hearing, veterans who lost their hearing in combat, and many more. The word “Deaf” is an umbrella term for people with different levels of hearing loss, including both signers and non-signers. In my opinion, the so-called National Association of the Signers is a blatant insult to all of the factions within’ the Deaf community except the only ones that can sign. I, for one, sure don’t want any part of an organization with an idea that aims for the only small group within’ the Deaf community, and flip a middle finger to many Deaf people that don’t sign for whatsoever reason. If the National Association of Signers really formed to be an organization, I think I’ll put that organization in the same group that Alexander Graham Bell’s organization is in. They are perfect pairs.

Even though there is an internal mess at the National Association of the Deaf, that does not mean we should abandon the very organization formed in response to the ban on sign languages in education. I think we should focus on doing something about the National Association of the Deaf, that organization belongs to us no matter what, especially the members, and the stakeholders, instead of coming up with an idea to form an organization “to compete” with the oldest national organization that happens to be the Deaf Community’s organization. It starts with making sure that we fight to get the right people to manage the organization and continue to hold them accountable. It might take a very long time to finally accomplish something we want to see from the National Association of the Deaf. Maybe even a few generations. Still, the National Association of the Deaf remains the most important organization for the Deaf community here in the United States of America. I noticed that some people trying to form an organization against ours are running away when things get hard, and want the easier way: to create an organization against one we already have. Plus, that looks weird and stupid, which I think the government will think so when they take notice.

As a member of the Deaf community, the idea of creating an organization against an organization that is already ours is a big no. Even though I am a signer, I will not participate in any organization or activity that dismisses or discriminates against other groups within a community, such as non-signers. Shame.

It’s cheaper to buy the whole thing than the parts.

I am not sure if you have noticed this yet, but if you go to a store such as Wal-Mart or Target, you will find that it is cheaper to buy the whole thing new than to buy supplies or parts for it. For example, go to the aisle with the shaver products and look at the prices of some shavers or razors. You will notice that the price for a shaver/shaving razor comes with two to maybe five blade refills is cheaper than it would cost you to get the blade refills only. In other words, you get a shaver/shaving razor with 5 refills, which is cheaper than one with only 4 refills without a shaver/shaving razor. So, it is a lot cheaper to buy the one that comes with 5 refills and a shaver/shaving razor than buying a pack of 4 refills only.

Another example is any HP all-in-one printers that would come with the inks free, some of them come with a 3-month free inks supply or a year free inks supply, would cost about $110 to $150, and when it’s time to get inks refilled, it would be $170 for black XL, regular-sized cyan, magenta, and yellow! Isn’t

that ridiculous, don’t you think? It would be cheaper to buy a new HP printer, such as the HP Officejet Pro like mine, that comes with free ink for 1, 3 months, or a year, than buying a combo of all-color ink refills. These companies have a backward logic! If they are going to sell the main product, such as a printer or a shaver/shaving razor, they should sell printer ink or shaver/shaving razor refills at lower prices than the main product. Because of this, it’s encouraging many people to keep buying these products that come with supplies, even though it would cost less to buy the supplies separately, which means we will end up with several printers or shavers/razors we don’t need. Talk about a ton of recycling stuff that the landfills will get! I can remember that in the late 90s to early 2000s, ink was very cheap to purchase for our printers. We would get bottles of ink in different colors for only a few dollars to refill our printers about four to five times before we needed more.

What is worse is that printer companies, such as HP, made sure to monopolize refill ink by making their printers accept only HP-brand ink, which comes with chipsets that let the printers recognize it. If we end up buying the alternative one which is very cheap, depending on some manufacturers, the alternative or off-brand inks refill range between $29 to $49, some of our printers will prevent them from working or worse making them to mess up our printers as if they are punishing us for buying the alternative inks then we would have no choice but to buy another printer, and be forced to buy the OEM inks such as HP so that they can recognize that they made these inks to allow our printers to function properly.

That is the beauty of capitalism that America is so well-known for. Some companies are out looking for a way to where that they can manufacture or make some products, and to get supply for some of these products such as printers, you can only have one option which is to buy the supply from the same company that made the product while making sure that any other company such as third party or alternative brands, cannot work with their product properly. Like that whole deal of buying a printer, and the only ink supply that the printer can accept is the inks manufactured by the company that made the printer. Again, that’s the beauty of capitalism, and greed combined. The reason I am talking about this is that I am dealing with it. I needed to get some ink refills for my printer, but it would cost me $170 for the combo (all colors and black). Hence, I had to look for an alternative that I hoped would work, so I bought some aftermarket printer inks compatible with my printer for $24.99, but they still didn’t print anything correctly. Even one of them was leaking inside the printer, and that wasn’t a good thing. Still, I hope that I stopped it in time before it does any damage, so now I have to think hard if I should just go on and eat the bullet by paying for their printer inks or finding another aftermarket that seems to get a lot of positive feedback to try to see if other alternative/aftermarket/off-brand printer inks for $44 will work.

Sometimes the logic of some companies is Illogical, but at the same time, I get that they are trying to monopolize because they are greedy.

Trump’s White House and Washington, D.C., are his playground

It is apparent that the White House, a residence for the President of the United States of America, and the capital of the United States of America, Washington, D.C., is President Donald Trump’s big playground. Beside trying to find anything that he can slap his name on, John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts is one of the examples, he is looking for anything that he can renovate or construct something at the White House, and in the Washington, D.C., because his name will be a part of the United States of America’s history because all of these renovations, and the constructions of different things such as that arch statue which he names, the United States Triumphal Arch. As for the renovations, some of you already know that President Trump has renovated the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool by having the flooring painted in the United States of America’s blue, saying it would look cleaner, and by making the pool reflect more than it did. Still, now we are seeing that it hardly makes any difference. Now, just a few hours ago, that reflecting pool already had a problem: there was algae in the water, which means a lot more taxpayer money for maintenance to keep the water as clean as possible. Before President Trump renovated the reflecting pool, it was maintained from time to time because it was more natural than it is now, as the water contains chemicals from the paints and other sources. The reflecting pool will require maintenance a lot more often than before, which means even more federal funding, and by federal funding, I mean the funding from taxpayers.

How about the fact that the east wing, along with the east colonnade of the White House, was completely demolished before we could make an eye blink so that President Trump could construct a big beautiful ballroom with all kinds of security features, including a port for the drones?! Initially, it cost $200 million, as President Trump said at the time. Now, to no surprise to me, the cost has doubled to approximately $400 million. Now, the latest is that they are debating a proposal to allocate one billion dollars for security-related upgrades to the White House tied to the ballroom project. When some journalists asked President Trump who would front the money for his ballroom project, he told them that all the money would come from private donors and that we taxpayers would not pay for it. There are a few things we, as Americans, should be concerned about. Who are the private donors? In exchange for what? You and I know how millionaires or billionaires are; they don’t just donate a lot of money (hundreds of millions of dollars) and expect nothing in return. And why did he say that the taxpayers wouldn’t be the ones to pay for the ballroom project when we know that, in the end, we will be the ones who pay some, if not all, for his ballroom project? If you still believe private donors are funding the ballroom project, then come on! Think hard. There is already a $1 billion federal funding request, which means that if Congress approves it, then we taxpayers will be paying for it.

When President Trump said it would cost about $200 million for a ballroom that size, with a lot of decorations painted with gold leaf, as you see in Trump’s Oval Office, to mimic real gold. Showed us a few pictures of what the ballroom will look like when it is completed. Some of us knew right away that there was no way the ballroom in the pictures we saw would cost $200 million. The size, the complexity, the security features, titanium (one of the strongest metals), decorations in gold-plated paint or gold leaf paint, a ton of paints, furniture, and other things have to cost a heck of a lot more than what President Trump said it would cost for the White House’s ballroom. The ballroom was originally designed to accommodate up to 650 guests, but it has now been expanded to around 900. The size of the ballroom also have been doubled now, as of now the ballroom will have 3 stories level undeground including the military complex, and how many stories will there be above the ground is vauge now because a court paused President Trump from constructing anything above the ground but allowed only underground so not sure how many stories/floors there will be above the ground when/if the court changes the mind or the Congress give them the green-lit. For now, it is known that the new east colonnade will have two stories, so the ballroom will likely have two floors above the ground to connect with the two-story east colonnade, which would total the ballroom with 5 stories unless President Trump changes his mind to add another floor in the east colonnade or add more floors on top of the ballroom. Everything for $200 million, or even $400 million? It cannot be. Any architect would tell you that the way President Trump wants the ballroom built costs far more than $200 million, or even the latest $400 million estimate. If the White House were rebuilt today, it would cost between $2.5 billion and $4.5 billion! The White House is about 55,000 square feet, and the state ballroom project is planned to be around 90,000 square feet. The state ballroom project is almost twice the size of the White House. It is estimated that rebuilding the White House would be in the range of $2.5 billion to $4.5 billion, but 400 million dollars for the ballroom, which is almost twice the size of the White House?! So you get the picture: the $400 million ballroom is unrealistic; it will be a lot more than that in the end, and my gut tells me that we taxpayers will be footing some, if not all, of the bill.

All of these renovation and new construction projects by President Trump that we are seeing or saw, I don’t think that is the end; I think he will go on and add even more projects he wants done during his time as the President of the United States of America. He does all of that so that he would have his name imprinted in the United States history, such as which or who President did this, and that. Like that, the White House ballroom was built by President Donald Trump, President Trump constructed the United States Triumphal Arch, President Donald Trump renovated Lincoln’s reflecting pool, and whatever else during President Trump’s presidency, to mention that President Trump did them in the United States history that the future generations will be reading about in their history or civic classes. It is one of the things that President Trump is well known for, putting his name on anything he can, licensing his brand, which we know is Trump, for a fee, and whatnot. He wants his name imprinted on anything he can, and now that he is President again, he has the opportunity to do so on some federal properties.

What many Americans should know is that the White House does not belong to Donald Trump, and it never will; the same goes for any president, past or future, because the White House belongs to us Americans. It is why the White House is called the people’s house, as when Barack Obama was President, he along with his wife Michelle Obama would often point out that the White House belongs to the Americans and that the White House is not theirs and that it is the people’s house that they happens to be living in to serve for us Americans as the President of the United States of America. But now, with President Donald Trump, as we are seeing with our own eyes, the White House isn’t the people’s house; it is one of his houses and one of his playgrounds for him to build or renovate. A playground for President Donald Trump to play on, such as hosting a UFC event at the White House on the South Lawn, where there will be some fight matches, and I see that as blatantly disrespectful to the American people by our own President. Hosting some UFC fight matches at the White House, to celebrate President Trump’s birthday, and, no, don’t tell me that it is to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States’ independence because it is not. The UFC event the White House is hosting will take place on June 14th, which is in just a few days, and President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday is on that same day. I could be careless if President Trump were to host a UFC event at his own property, such as Mar-A-Lago in Florida or his Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey, which he calls his favorite home. But no, that UFC event will take place on the South Lawn of the White House instead, and that should not sit well with any of us. It is a desecration of the people’s house, the White House, where our country’s most powerful leader resides, and it is a sacred place belonging to us Americans. The White House should reflect the dignity, decorum, integrity, and respect for the American people, since it is the people’s house. The White House is not a playground for the President to play for pleasure, such as hosting the UFC event, and whatnot. If President Trump wants to celebrate his birthday, that is fine; he can have a small gathering at the White House to celebrate his birthday, play some golf, tennis, or basketball, as there is a court for tennis or basketball at the White House, then go for it! Plus, the Americans can join the celebration by wishing our own President a happy birthday. Be dignified about it, you are the President. But no, we are going to have a fighting event on the South Lawn at the White House, where there will be blood splattering all over the place, with contestants fighting to knock out or break a bone on the ground our founding fathers stood on, and whatnot.

They might as well have a pee on the ground of the people who fought and died for the United States of America’s independence. They might as well drop a turd or more on the ground that the people fought against British soldiers trying to take over the White House during President James Madison’s dinner in the evening on August 24, 1814, during the War of 1812. President James Madison, along with other people, had to flee, and the British soldiers were burning down the White House. Still, to their surprise, it was stopped by the violent thunderstorm, which helped stop the fire, and because of that, the foundation of the White House remains, although there was a lot of damage, but the foundation is the same foundation that the White House is sitting on to this day. What’s worse is that the Republicans are ok with the fact that the White House is hosting a fighting event, and I, for one, cannot believe how Trump’s supporters or MAGA cult would accept that. If they are patriots as they claimed to be, then they should have stood up and told President Trump that he cannot host a fight event, but rather a small gathering to celebrate the President’s birthday, such as an evening dinner party with his family and some rich friends, or whatever is acceptable. The UFC Freedom 250, which, again, I have no idea why they called that, because this isn’t about the independence of the United States, which is on July 4th; it is about President Trump’s birthday, which is on June 14th, since that is when the event will be held, will not be broadcast live for free. If anyone wants to watch the UFC event at the White House, we will have to pay a subscription to… Guess where? Paramount+! Sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Yes, President Trump approved the Paramount deal to acquire Skydance, which led to Warner Bros. Discovery’s takeover in exchange for a $16 million legal settlement paid by Paramount to Trump’s presidential library because President Trump accused 60 Minutes, which was under CBS, of deceitfully editing Kamala Harris’s 60 Minutes interview that caused President Trump “mental anguish”. Now, the new owner of these is none other than Larry Ellison, and it is very well-known that Larry Ellison is one of the staunch supporters of President Trump.

As a country, we are now more laughable, and we should be embarrassed as Americans. What is next?! Playboy bunnies event? Arm wrestling event? Penis measurement event? Or wait, wait! I’ve got an idea, a recreation of one of Epstein’s parties that he attended with Melania?!

With all of this going on, remember that the White House does not belong to President Trump, or any president; it belongs to us, which is why they are called the people’s house. If you aren’t happy with the way that President Trump is doing with the construction and renovations, then contact your representative or senator to let them know that you aren’t happy with what President Trump is doing to the federal properties.
