I am sure some of you are looking forward to the summer coming quicker than it feels, as the summer solstice will start this year on June 20th, 2025. As for me, I have been doing okay. I have some good and bad days, just like everyone else. I want to congratulate Troy Kotsur for winning the Oscar for Best Supporting actor and congratulate everyone involved in a movie named CODA for winning the Oscars for best picture and best adapted screenplay on March 27th! That wasn’t all; Troy Kotsur and CODA have won several awards before winning any awards from the Oscars. They won several SAG awards, such as outstanding performance by an actor in a supporting role in a motion picture (for Troy Kotsur), the best theatrical motion picture. They also won some BAFTA (Almost like Oscars but in British) and many more awards. Troy Kotsur became the second Deaf person to own an Oscar, he is the first Deaf male to win an oscar but the second to win the oscar, and the first Deaf person to win the oscar was none other than Marlee Matlin (along with the first Deaf female to win the Oscar). Marlee Matlin won the Oscar for her movie Children of a Lesser God back in 1987, so the gap for another Deaf actor or actress to win another one is enormous as it has been 35 years, so it was a way overdue, in my opinion. Someone has mailed me a few videos of Kappa Gamma fraternity, some personal and some public, that have a few well-known Deaf people in them, such as Nyle DiMarco. I have a video of two videos I have put together; they said that it’s from their spring 2011 march and their final 2011 march, with Nyle DiMarco participating as one of the members. I am posting this video because of a fiasco with Gallaudet University and its fraternity Kappa Gamma. Many people have put much evidence, stories, complaints, and whatnot out there on the internet, so this video should also be put in there with them so that people can be aware of this. So those people who are outsiders can get an idea of what Kappa Gamma looks like at Gallaudet University. Recently, Nyle DiMarco has dotted out his name for his comedy series show with the Spectrum Originals channel, owned by Charter Communications, under David Dae Kim’s production company 3AD and Melrose Place. Two days ago, there was a video that caught my attention through the news feed on Facebook, in that video it was an American Sign Language lesson in profanity by Nyle DiMarco and for past these two days since that video caught my attention I have kept my eyes on the commentary where the Deaf community would share their opinion on the video of Nyle DiMarco’s American Sign Language lesson in profanity. While there are a lot of people who have shared their views about it and I have not. I never left a comment, tweet or wrote a wall post on Facebook because at that time I had to think hard because I admit that at that time I was baffled – too baffled to think of what to say I guess. So, now that two days have passed or three, I decided that I should just go ahead and share my opinion on what Nyle DiMarco did in the video where he teach profanity using our native language which is American Sign Language.
