To whom this may concern at Snapchat,
This is Joshua “Joshie” Sullivan, an owner of JoshiesWorld since August 7th, 2007. I am writing an open/public letter to Snapchat, also known as Snapchat Inc. For over a decade, I have been dealing with Snapchat’s stubbornness and refusal to hand over the username JoshiesWorld to me, as I am the rightful owner of JoshiesWorld since August 7, 2007. I am still utterly disappointed with Snapchat, and I am getting tired of their repeated excuse that when it comes to usernames, it’s first-come, first-served. It’s understandable if the name doesn’t belong to anyone, but not when it’s already owned by someone else. I’ve sent all kinds of documents that include proof of my ownership of JoshiesWorld since August 7, 2007. The person who registered with my identity brand name hasn’t been active for over a decade now. Snapchat needs to do the right thing, and it makes no sense that Snapchat keeps an inactive registered name over the rightful owner who would be more active. Additionally, they would receive more business through my usage compared to getting nothing from an inactive user. Even though I do have a Snapchat account, which is TheJoshiesWorld, I registered that name, which was meant to be temporary, until Snapchat hands over the name JoshiesWorld to me as the rightful owner by changing my temporary username, TheJoshiesWorld, to JoshiesWorld.
I own all of JoshiesWorld’s name on all of the popular social media platforms (most of them are verified), and the only one that I don’t is Snapchat – Snapchat is the last standing. Because of that, Snapchat risks potential harm to my identity brand by allowing someone else who isn’t entitled to that name to use the platform. If that person had been active, Snapchat would have allowed that imposter to ruin my reputation, identity, brand, business, and credibility because they used the name I own, and could have misrepresented me/my business, which would have impaired my identity and brand (who’s a Deaf and disabled content creator). It’s not right, Snapchat! As I said, I have a Snapchat account. I have refrained from posting anything for several years now, as I aim to minimize confusion among readers, viewers, followers, family members, friends, and others. This is a problem because many are being misled into thinking that the JoshiesWorld account on Snapchat is under my control when, in fact, it isn’t. It’s registered to an imposter who has been inactive for years now. It’s bad enough that where it’s misleading people into assuming that the JoshiesWorld account is an official JoshiesWorld account when it isn’t as it is registered to the wrong person who has no right to my identity brand name, JoshiesWorld, and at no fault of my followers, through Snapchat I am losing followers, and business which is very hard for a content creator who is Deaf, and disabled to be able to get these followers or businesses because if you ask any Deaf or disabled content creators, they will tell you that they have to work 3-4 times harder to be able to get followers or businesses than a content creator who isn’t Deaf or disabled. So, imagine that followers and companies are going to someone (who has been inactive for years) who has wrongfully registered the name of my identity brand, assuming it is an official JoshiesWorld account. Therefore, a Deaf and disabled content creator must work three to four times harder to gain followers and attract businesses. Still, I am losing them due to Snapchat allowing it to happen that someone inactive, registered with the name JoshiesWorld, which does not belong to that person, gets them.
This will be one of hundreds, if not thousands, of times I have asked Snapchat to do the right thing by handing over the username JoshiesWorld to me, as the rightful owner of the name. So, Snapchat, please, for many times over a decade, finally hand over the username JoshiesWorld. To do so, please change my temporary name on Snapchat, TheJoshiesWorld, to JoshiesWorld. How many times must I beg of you, Snapchat, to do the right thing by handing over the name JoshiesWorld to me (in doing so, changing my temporary Snapchat account, TheJoshiesWorld, to JoshiesWorld), please? Another decade? Please don’t let that be. In doing so, you will have an active account, with the name JoshiesWorld, which belongs to me as the rightful owner and not to someone who has no right to the JoshiesWorld name, and has been inactive for years. Therefore, Snapchat will receive nothing from that wrongly registered inactive account, while Snapchat may potentially receive some business from me/JoshiesWorld, who is the rightful owner of the name JoshiesWorld and will be active, such as running ad campaigns, paying for subscriptions, and the like.
If any of you who work at Snapchat come across this open letter, please bring it to their attention. Alternatively, I’d greatly appreciate it if you, who works at Snapchat with the necessary privileges, could assist me with this decade-long issue by transferring the username JoshiesWorld to me. To facilitate this, I’d like to ask that my temporary username, TheJoshiesWorld, be changed to JoshiesWorld.
Readers, viewers, followers, supporters, fans, family, friends, acquaintances, and so on. From the bottom of my heart, I apologize that this has continued to confuse you for many years, causing you to follow an account with the username JoshiesWorld, thinking it was managed by me/JoshiesWorld, when in fact it was not, thanks to Snapchat. I apologize to any businesses that have made attempts to reach out, hoping to do some business or collaboration by messaging an account with the JoshiesWorld username, who happens to be registered by someone who (inactive) has no right to the JoshiesWorld name.
