Toronto’s Steakhouse and Mexican Bar and Grill

There was talk in the town about a new restaurant, Toronto’s Steakhouse and Mexican Bar and Grill. Many locals talked about the restaurant and looked forward to trying out the food and drinks it offered. Several local news outlets have written an article about the new restaurant. As a journalist/blogger, I didn’t write anything about it because I have often seen a few local restaurants or businesses open but only last a short time and go out of business, which is unfortunate to witness as a local. Plus, when they opened Toronto’s Steakhouse and Mexican Bar and Grill, they already had a competitor on day one because they weren’t the town’s only steakhouse and/or Mexican restaurant. We have a Steakhouse in South Williamson, Ky, that restaurant is one of the longest running restaurants in the area, and then there is Sazon Mexican Restaurant in the same town, and El Torito Mexican restaurant in South Williamson, Ky, which is only about 1.5 miles away from these Mexican restaurants. There is another one, but it’s a bit further in Matewan, WV, called Mi Pueblito, about 6 miles away, Hacienda Mexican restaurant in Logan, WV, about 4 miles away, and Mi Hacienda Mexican restaurant in Pikeville, KY, about 5 miles away. So there are many Mexican restaurants in a short distance from Pikeville, KY, to Logan, WV, and Toronto’s Steakhouse and Mexican Bar and Grill has to compete against them as soon as their door opens.

It is always good to have competition because that means that restaurants have to compete by making better food, which can keep customers coming to their restaurant instead of the others. However, when there are so many of them, there is a high chance that they will run out of business, which is the problem. If you want to make some money in this area, then you should make sure that whatever you offer is different from others, because we, the customers, can say that we have this, so why do we need to go with the other one? Then that will mean a loss of money. But if you are opening a business that will compete against others, you must ensure you make something better than theirs. Anyway, it was brave that they decided to open a steakhouse AND a Mexican restaurant with a bar. So far, I have tried some food from the Steakhouse in South Williamson, Ky, I have tried El Torito Mexican restaurant in South Williamson, Ky, and now I have tried the restaurant that many raved about, the new restaurant in the town, Toronto’s Steakhouse and Mexican Bar and Grill in Williamson, WV.

A few days ago, I told my mother I wanted us to try food from the new restaurant, Toronto’s Steakhouse and Mexican Bar and Grill. They have been open for a while now, and I have been meaning to try them early on, but never could find the time to do so, and I am on a diet, but I have a cheat day per week, so this time I finally decided that it’s overdue to try them out. So we ordered some of the food from there on Friday (April 11, 2025) for takeout, meaning we ordered from there to eat at home. We ordered a large pizza with pepperoni, extra cheese, and blooming onions, and then they gave us free chips with salsa sauce to go with them, which was nice. The large pizza with pepperoni, extra cheese, and blooming onions cost almost $30. What did I think of them? Did I like any food we ordered from Toronto’s Steakhouse and Mexican Bar and Grill? Here are the pictures that I’ve taken as soon as they arrived here at home.

When we opened the pizza box, we were quickly puzzled because it looked much smaller than it should have. We ordered a large size one, but it looked like almost a medium, between small and medium. I decided to get pizza because there was a picture taken by the restaurant themselves, that pizza in their picture looked so delicious so that was what convinced me to get the pizza thinking that it’d look like the one in their picture but that was not the case here because the pizza we gotten looked so different. I have uploaded a screenshot of the pizza above (a post by the restaurant), which would look like what it should’ve looked like when we got it. Did the pizza we got look like the one in their picture on their Facebook? Right, it doesn’t. It’s far from it, as you can see. After we took our slices, as a reviewer, you have to test a bit by bit (dissecting), so I took my time trying out the crust, the tomato sauce, the cheese, the pepperoni, and the whole thing. I did the same with the blooming onions, which weren’t my choice, as it was my mother’s, but they were for all of us to try, just as we did for the pizza. I have eaten so many pizzas from pizza restaurants/places all over Ohio, Virginia, Kentucky, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Florida in my lifetime. So I know what a good pizza is, from pizza chain restaurants to pizzeria places to the frozen pizzas from some grocery stores.

Unfortunately, the pizza from Toronto’s Steakhouse and Mexican Bar and Grill is now near the least favorite pizza on my list, from best to worst pizzas list. Besides the deceiving pizza size, the crust is underdone and soggy. Although edible, it tasted and felt undone, as if it didn’t take enough time to heat the crust. I could barely taste the tomato sauce on the pizza, even for me, who likes to have a light sauce on my pizzas, but that sauce nearly doesn’t have a taste, and the cheese was average decent. After we were done with our dinner because that’s what we ordered them for our dinner, we shared each other’s opinions on how the pizza and the blooming onions were. That included comparing them to other pizzas we’ve tested, and we quickly said that the pizza tasted like a cheap frozen pizza from the grocery store. Their blooming onions were decent, which was the only positive thing we thought of from the dinner with pizza and the blooming onions. The blooming onions have a bit of crunch, soft onions where you wouldn’t have a hard time chewing the onions after taking a bite, and the sauce that came with the blooming onions was runny. All of us said that we wouldn’t order pizza from there again in the future, but as for the blooming onions, we wouldn’t mind ordering them once in a great while. This might not be the last time we will eat anything from there because we might give them another chance by trying out their steak and tacos. If and when we do, I will update this review so that it may change in the future, but right now, it is based on their pizza and the blooming onions from the restaurant.

With that said, rating out of 5, I rate Toronto’s Steakhouse and Mexican Bar and Grill a 2, which translates to ok. That rating might change depending on whether we try out their steak or their tacos in the future, so keep an eye out for that. If we do and update this review, I will let you know on JoshiesWorld’s social media, like Facebook and others. Would I recommend Toronto’s Steakhouse and Mexican Bar and Grill in Williamson, WV? If you want pizza, I wouldn’t recommend them, but yes and no for blooming onions. The order of a large pizza with pepperoni and extra cheese, and the blooming onions, was $30, which, in our opinion, isn’t justified, meaning it’s too much, especially for that pizza that didn’t taste good. We could buy the cheap frozen pizza from the store for less if we wanted a pizza like the one from the restaurant. All that talk and raves about the restaurant isn’t what you think, so don’t hold high hopes like I did for the restaurant. If you have tried and eaten the food from Toronto’s Steakhouse and Mexican Bar and Grill, please leave a comment below or comment on the post that JoshiesWorld will be sharing this review on social media.
