GoPro Hero 9

The behemoth company of more than a decade manufactures many action cameras since starting with a big bulky camera with a folding case that you could strap it onto your wrist to capture an image or video to a most portable camera out there that capture everything. – GoPro. GoPro release newer generations of products on an annual basis, specifically for action cameras or small cameras like some other company do with their products that release more recent generations such as Apple or Microsoft for their mobile products or computers. GoPro has released one of the newest generations of their beloved products line over a week ago, and that is the Hero 9. GoPro Hero 9 is here, but this time it comes with significant new features that surprise everyone and is doubly better than each generation they released in the past! Every new generation that GoPro made for their Hero line gets better, but this latest generation is double better!

Every new generation for GoPro’s Hero would see two or three improvements that come with them. Every three or four generations, we would see either a redesign or drastic improvement in the design for the body along with the camera’s lens. So, we get something little good comes with every new generation that they produced, and some of them are very useful or needed, but this time with their latest GoPro Hero 9, we get several valuable things that comes with it instead of just only a couple or three little good things that come with past generations. It seems that we being big fans or loyal to GoPro by keeping on buying every new generation that they have released, or at least every two new generations have heard us because we have been trying to ask GoPro for some of these features for many years. For instance, we have been asking GoPro for many years to give us a front monitor or screen so that we can see ourselves while recording a video or taking a picture (selfie) so to help us to make sure that we are in the frame. They finally heard us and decided that it was about the time to give us what we have been asking for a long time, which is that front display that mirrors whatever is on the back screen, which is great for a selfie vlog or picture. Now, the next thing we also have been asking for a long time, and that was a significant bump in megapixels (MP) for the camera lens because that would mean a superb quality in video or image. Some GoPro Hero 8 owners complained about not replacing the lens on their own like they could with a few older generations of GoPro Hero products. Now they are back with this latest generation of Hero (9), where we can replace the lens by ourselves if they are damaged.

As I mentioned above that we have been asking for a significant bump (increase) megapixels, every a few new generations, we would usually get a 1 or 2 MP increase, which is not enough. They are already some smartphones out there that have higher megapixels than GoPro offered. They heard us finally and went ahead to give us a whopping 11.6 megapixels increase, which is an insanely significant increment because the previous generation of Hero (8) had 12MP, but now this newest GoPro Hero 9 has 23.6 megapixels! That is mind-blowing for me and many of GoPro fans to see that vast increment in megapixels, but they were overdue for that because it was something that they were behind on for a while. They also upgraded their hyper smooth 2.0 to 3.0, which is easily noticeable and is an improvement. With this GoPro Hero 9, it comes with a level feature that allows you to record a video at an even level without tilting your video on the other side at least 45 degrees. They have an accessory calls Max Lens Mod, which is a lens that would capture a video on an even level all around no matter what (360). Another cool feature that GoPro Hero 9 has is that it is now capable of being used as a web camera for your computer or laptop. You can also stream live video using GoPro Hero 9 via the GoPro app; on popular social media! Do you have a moment where you wished that you could have capture that moment, but you missed by being too late? Fear not because GoPro has added even another useful feature, and that is called hindsight! The Hindsight feature is what will capture something up to 30 seconds for you even before you have the chance to press the record or shutter button!

Now, this GoPro Hero 9 is a camera that can be used for everything from daily vlogs or how-to videos to cinematic video or so. I think that this GoPro Hero 9 is finally the camera that allows everyone with or with no expertise in filming or photography can use it to film anything or to snap photography because it has all technical specs, especially whopping megapixels that are near or very close to a professional DSLR camera because most common megapixels for DSLR camera is in range of 20 to 25MP and this GoPro Hero 9 has 23.6MP so that should tell you that it has what you need for a video or a photo!

Here are some samples that I have taken with GoPro Hero 9 to give you some ideas on how well video and image that GoPro Hero 9 can produce. Please keep this in mind that I did not take them as a professional would; I only take them to demonstrate the quality that GoPro Hero 9 can produce for a video or an image.

On the video side, they are more clear and crisper than they were on older generations, which is a pleasing thing to see because I am sure that many of us GoPro fans secretly hoped that they would be up to par with the likes of DSLR. Now they are close enough. It is more portable than carrying a giant DSLR camera around strapped on your body or carrying a camera bag with other lenses and accessories, which can be cumbersome to carry, especially if traveling. Need a camera to capture something in action? This will do that. Need a camera to capture something special? That, too, needs a camera to produce a cinematic film essentially? This one now can do it also! This GoPro Hero 9 indeed can do it unlike the older GoPro Hero could, although they are doable but not as good quality as this GoPro Hero 9 will now produce. GoPro Hero 9 now have 5K thanks to the drastic bump in megapixels, so you can capture a video from HD up to 5K or use 4K or 2K, which is also an option for the video.

What is even better is that they have a subscription option where you can purchase that would take care of your GoPro devices every time that they are broken or have issues. Not only that, with subscription, they offer discounts for all of the accessories and as well other devices that GoPro has. The subscription-only would cost $50.00 yearly. The price for GoPro’s newest camera, GoPro Hero 9, is $450. Still, if you buy it with a subscription, that price will be significantly reduced to only $299, and that in total with a subscription is about $350, so buying with a subscription is a better deal than buying GoPro Hero 9 without it. I went for it because I know buying GoPro 9 at $299 with only $50 a year for subscription a year. If it somehow broke or had a problem, then they would fix it for me without me having to spend another $299 for a new one again or $450 without it, so that is a great deal in the long run – even it is an excellent deal in short-run as well.

Right now, GoPro offers a sort of a deal package that you should grab while they offer that deal. Right now, they offer GoPro 9 with a subscription a year, and they add a free 32GB Sandisk Extreme memory card to start with. Although, I would recommend that you look somewhere to buy a larger one because 32GB is not a lot if you want to capture a good long video in 4K or 5K using high bitrate because 4K or 5K consume a heck a lot of space in a very short period of the video.

I highly recommend GoPro Hero 9. If you own an older GoPro and wonder if GoPro Hero 9 is the one that you should upgrade, whether it be from a GoPro Hero 8 or older, then absolutely yes because this GoPro Hero 9 has doubled its megapixel from its previous generation GoPro Hero 8 while at the same time drastically improved the stability along with a lot more features that comes with it. There are a few more things about GoPro Hero 9 that I have not said, these features are already plentiful, but there are a few more features that I probably have missed, such as an improved timewarp 3.0 and whatnot. The bottom line is that this GoPro Hero 9 is a magnificent camera and it is the best camera that GoPro has made because they went far beyond than just giving us a good enough improved camera from Hero 8, but they did not because this GoPro Hero 9 is pretty much new of everything for once!

This GoPro Hero 9 is truly a king of the kings of action cameras! I am rating this GoPro Hero 9 a 4.5, and that translates very great. I have not placed anything a 4.5, and this is the first one that I am now rating because it is genuinely very great!
