A tragic day for the Deaf community

As some of you know, what happened on Wednesday, October 25th? For the past few days, after discovering what happened on that tragic day, I have been thinking over and over about what to say or how to express myself. But I have been unable to; I could not find the words because I have been left speechless or signless. Should I say something or express something about what had happened? Because if I did, it wouldn’t reverse what happened that day. What happened on that day was pure evil and hit too close to home. We are used to seeing something like that happen often everywhere. What happened on October 25th is common here in the United States, but October 25th was different. What I mean by common is that we are seeing a lot of mass shootings happening all over the United States, and that a lot of lives were taken away from them. But it was different on October 25th, 2023, because on that day, there was a mass shooting in Maine, and we thought to ourselves that it was another mass shooting that we were so used to hearing or seeing until we realized it wasn’t. On that day, there was a mass shooting in the state of Maine in Lewiston where a man named Robert…

Computers Made A Difference For A Deaf Child!

This is just a very small post for you all to read because this is more on a personal level than I normally write. For many years, I have been looking for pictures of myself when I was young, especially my accomplishments and whatnot. I do know that I was the first student to demonstrate a new computer with disc compact (CD) for Pike County schools in Kentucky; that is the newspaper that I am still in search of, but I have found an old VHS which I am working on figuring out how to transfer the VHS digitally. If so, I will show it around here or on social media. While we were going through old things such as pictures, VHS tapes, and whatnot, I finally found some newspapers with me in them. It was the talk of Pike County, Ky, because I was a student who happened to be Deaf student who was paving the way to get new computers for the students at my school when I was just five years old. During my time in grade school, I was five years old or around that age; when anyone thinks of someone who is a computer whiz, I would be it, and being Deaf is what made me so, which is something I am very thankful for.…

Blogger’s Toolbox

For every blogger, whether it be news-based blogs, foods-based blogs, personal, technology, business and many more of other niches that they like writing for or about has some tools in their blogger toolbox. Maybe there are some bloggers that doesn’t or even know that they exist, so this is why I am going to share what is in the blogger’s toolbox that I have been using for over a decade and I have gone through a quite a lot of tools before I could choose which ones that I would call my favorite tools. Just because you have found this article, there is a possibility that you are looking for some tools to use for your blog and I am going to share just that so to help some of you out a bit. Top name bloggers or blogs such as CNN, ABC, BBC News and many more has their tools to use which is why you would sometimes see them having their devices whether it be a laptop, tablet or smartphone when they attend some events to take some notes or actually write them as they hear them. Remember that this is what in my toolbox, there are some more of other tools that I don’t use and many alternatives to what I use because it depends on how…

Why I Blog

I see a lot of the people starts off with a trend of Why I _____ and I figured that I will do one for blog. People have already started a few trends of “Why I” such as “WhyIVlog”, “WhyISign” and others. To my knowledge, I may be wrong and if I am wrong then please correct me by leaving a comment below here so I can make a correction note on here. That the “Why I” was originally started by the Deaf community with #WhyISign where anyone who knows American Sign Language and breath in American Sign Language to make a short videos to share why they sign. You can find #WhyISign on Twitter and Facebook if you are interested in see some responses from the people who shares their reason to why they use American Sign Language. So I am going to do one for the blog and this is #WhyIBlog! Hope that all of you enjoy reading some of my reasons to why I blog and I encourage that all of you bloggers to do the same by making a post on your blog with the title “Why I Blog” then use the hashtag on social media #WhyIBlog so that all of bloggers can read some responses from the blogosphere via social media like Twitter or Facebook.…

11-7-2016 Tidbits

I am sorry that I have been MIA (Missing In Action) in the blogosphere for about a week, I know that is not the usual and that isn’t the unusual either as if you have noticed lately before this week I have started to become more active as a blogger for the last few months but then in the beginning of this week immediately put me on break due to a few reasons but the main reason I immediately was dropped out of blogging radar is because of the family matter which I will share on that with you in a few minutes here. I wrote the article in the beginning of the week saying that I will be taking a break from blogging for a while which you can find that article by looking for the article before this article and I said that I would have no idea when I would be done with taking a break, that is until I feel comfortable enough to get back in doing what I am passionate in. So this is to say that I am back, at least for now but I am not sure about being more active that I have been the least few months because I am not exactly all the way ready to be back yet as…

News Outlets Improperly Labeling The Deaf

There are hundreds or thousands of news outlets, including the big names of news companies, medium companies, and unknown companies, that everybody reads daily to gather information about what is happening in this country, whether in the United States or internationally. Some people don’t follow or keep up with current events or news about what is happening locally, nationally, and globally. But several people do keep up with the news, including myself, so we can be informed about what is happening in our country here in the United States or in other countries. There are a few services that allow some of us to personalize some news that we would like to get daily under our favorite sources, such as Google News, Yahoo News, Bing News, and some news apps like that news app in iOS 10 that allows you to personalize the way news you want them to come to you. My go-to for getting some information and news is Google News, which allows me only to get most of the news from the sources/news outlet that I prefer, and there is other news related that I personalized to get. For example, United States, Politics, World, Technology, Business, Social Media, Domain, Hosting, Deaf, Kentucky, and West Virginia are my related news picks. Not in a particular order; nonetheless, I…

Women Still Voting Donald Trump?

If some of you women have decided to change your mind to vote for Donald Trump then I absolutely don’t blame you at all but if any of you women decides that you still are voting Donald Trump then I am somewhat disappointed in some of you. Even though I may be hugely advocate for Deaf community that doesn’t means that I also advocate for others such as causes, things, humans and some more including the women. If you think that just because I am a male myself that means I don’t care about the women rights or damaging the dignity of the women then you are very wrong about that because even though I may be a male but that does not stops me from caring about the women after all I have some women in my life that I care more than anything in the world. Whatever I sees anybody or anything that degrades woman, I don’t appreciate that because after all regardless if we are men or women we always birthed on this earth from what gender? Exactly, our mothers and they are women so no matter what genders I am not going to allow anybody to degrade my mother or says something as if my mother or any women as if they are some objects which…

Police Doesn’t Protect Deaf, Instead Harms Deaf

You would think that the law enforcement are hard on the colored people, abuse their power against them and did several police brutality on them but what many people does not realize is that they are not the only one. Law Enforcement gives Deaf and Hard of Hearing people a very hard time as there are several stories about their experiences when they had confrontation with the police. One of several experiences, there were a Deaf woman who called police for immediate help because she was being beaten by her boyfriend or husband so once the police arrived at their residence and the Deaf woman were approached by the police where she would be supposedly to explain the situation about her husband or her boyfriend beat her to the plum but instead the police never took the time to hear her explanation so they tasered her then body slams her to the ground with their knees on the back of her body and cuffed her then books her to the jail while the husband or boyfriend who can hear were scoot-free. So imagine the horror as if you were in her shoes, the police never even questioned that man or even to let the woman to tell them what was going on or the reason for their call to the…
