On this Memorial Day, we remember the very people who died fighting for our country and those who are now fighting for it with their lives. It is also a day to remind ourselves that we cannot take our freedom for granted. We take this day to reflect on the pains that were inflicted on our country, such as the American Revolution, Slavery, the Civil War, the World Wars, the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attack, the Insurrection of January 6th, 2021, and more, so that we can remind ourselves to be a better country that everyone dreams of being part of. It’s not only the veterans who fought the wars for us and the soldiers who are now fighting for us that we should remember; we should also remember that America is made up of all walks of life. Because the United States of America is not just mine, nor yours, it is ours. This includes all races, genders, sexual orientations, ages, religions, able-bodied status, disabilities, political affiliations/views, intelligence quotients, and other factors. It is the inclusive people that are the heart of the United States of America, and we should reject any hate because hatred is what divides us.
