Most of us remember the day that the airplanes hit the Twin Towers, the World Trade Center in New York. It happened on September 11, 2001, and it was the day when every one of us was afraid when the terrorists attacked our country, the United States. Terrorists had hijacked both airplanes, one from American Airlines Flight 11 and one from United Airlines Flight 175, and used the airplanes as weapons to attack us. Even people who weren’t New York residents were afraid of these attacks. Everybody from every state was heartbroken over the people who were killed by those terrorists. It’s a day that we can never forget, and what happened. Indeed, a tragic day. Click here to read September 11, 2001 attacks.
As for me, I remember it very well; I was 14 years old at the time. The attacks happened when I was in school. I remember when the teachers and everybody else were running through the school building, afraid; I could tell it from their eyes. I was in one of my teacher’s class room when my mother came in and had told me what was going on and we went to one room and we all were watching news on TV that school had to see what’s going on, everybody at school on that day were surrounded by the television and were watching very closely and I almost still had no clue what it was going on because I don’t know where or what World Trade Center were until few of people had explained me what it was, by that time when we were watching the news one of tower were only hit and I remember watching that the other tower got hit with my own eyes, it was very confusing for myself and a lot of other people with what was going on. And everybody else who was not able to get close enough to see what was going on on television had these small radios on their desks in each classroom for everybody to listen, and not too long, I believe, the school announced that we would be leaving school earlier to go home because everybody had no clue what else was happening; we had no idea if there were more attacks on the way to different places, which was the reason that a lot of schools got called off.
When we got home from school, we had all the televisions in our house on the news channel, watching reports of the attack and listening to reporters, and we kept our eyes peeled, afraid that something else might happen, and everybody hoped the attacks would stop. I even remember watching thousands and thousands of people rushing on the street where the towers were, with smoke coming up and the help on their way, with the policemen and policewomen rushing along with firetrucks to rush to where the World Trade Center, the twin towers, were, and it was horrible, very horrible to witness, and it broke our hearts. And when that happened, the 9/11 attack, we lived in Kentucky and West Virginia, right on the border, and we went back and forth between our home and our grandmother’s house to discuss what was going on that day.
Even though we were not attacked in Kentucky, the fact that we were from that state did not matter to me. What mattered to me was that my country and everyone else’s country were under attack. My heart goes out to everybody who witnessed it personally. My heart goes out to the family and friends of those who lost loved ones in either one of those towers, and to whoever it happened to; my heart goes out to you. I pray for your family and your friends, and I am deeply sorry that you lost someone during the attack. I am thankful that the one responsible for the attack that killed one of your loved ones has been killed, so that all of us, including myself and everybody else, can finally rest a bit. But even though the terrorist who attacked us has been killed by our soldiers, we can still, to this day, and never will forget what happened that day, September 11, 2001, in New York at the World Trade Center. Bless you all; in God we trust.
Here’s a video that I have found on YouTube of the news that I, myself, and everybody have watched and remembered, and still to this day and for many more years to come, that my heart will never stop pouring out for all of you families that have lost loved ones due to that day.
