Thought?:

Ole Smoky Distillery in Tennessee has diverted from producing several flavored moonshines to hand sanitizer due to the pandemic COVID-19 as we know that several hand sanitizers are often out of stock at almost every store. Some business has decided to divert from producing/manufacturing their products to personal protective equipment (PPE) such as face masks, gloves, gowns, face screens, hand sanitizers, ventilators, disinfectant products, and others to help to supply the frontline fighters against COVID-19 such as doctors, nurses, scientists, police officers, and many others but also sell some to the customers only after making sure that the frontline people have them first because they are constantly being exposed to COVID-19 to try to help them to fight COVID-19.

Ole Smoky seems to be keeping up with the demand so far as it looks that they mass-produced them while at the same time constantly producing them at their distillery in Tennessee. As we know, Purell and Germ-X are known as the best hand sanitizers but now that Ole Smoky produces them I beg to differ! That is right, you hear me because, in my opinion, I think that they make a better hand sanitizer because they contain 20% higher isopropyl alcohol than the common hand sanitizers. Common hand sanitizers you would find are in the range 50%-60% alcohol and Ole Smoky Moonshine Hand Sanitizer has 80% in it which is a lot more than recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) – the higher alcohol the quicker and more germs they kill!

You’d think that because they are made from a moonshine distillery means that they have that powerful smell in their moonshine hand sanitizer too which I can confirm that they are not. They are lighter, actually lighter scent than most alcohol and the scent goes away within’ few seconds, which is good. I immediately stopped using the Germ-X aloe and advised my mother to do the same as she got hers too because they have 20% more alcohol in it, which kills more germ and quicker. The only thing that I would complain if I must, which I also warn you so that you know this in case if you are interested in getting them that they are liquid and not gel-like the most hand sanitizers that you are used to. There are 3 different hand sanitizers to my knowledge, gel, liquid, and foam, so Ole Smoky’s Moonshine Hand Sanitizer is liquid one. It comes in 50ML small mason jar, a very mini mason jar if you will, and it is the perfect size to carry it with around for a hand sanitizer because you don’t want to carry a whole heavy mason jar around! Also, a caution, they empathized that they are NOT to drink as they are hand sanitizer.

I am rating the Ole Smoky’s Moonshine Hand Sanitizer 4, which is actually a very high rating considering that I barely rate anything over 4 unless they are that great and that rate would’ve gone up considerably if they were also offered in gel option too but they don’t as they only sell liquid one. If it is bothersome for you to use them from the mini mason jar then I suggest that you buy a blank mist spray bottle that you can find on the internet like Amazon (like this one) so you can use them to spray instead of pouring or tapping which is how I do with mine.

NOTE: Please do not purchase them to hoard them, as it is already hard for anyone to find hand sanitizer so purchase them that you think can last you a month or maybe two. Ole Smoky sells a single 50ML mini mason jar for $2.99, 6PK 50ML mini mason jars for $14.99, and 48PK 50ML mini mason jars for $99.99. Get what you think is necessary while at the same time keep others in mind that there are other people who may need them too.

Pros

  • Plenty of alcohol equals more germs killing and kills quicker.
  • Light alcohol scent that disappears very quickly after use.
