Double Kwik is a convenience store and gasoline station located throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Double Kwik currently serves only the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Still, there is some good news for the people of the Commonwealth of Virginia, as there are two in Grundy, Buchanan County, and another in Pound, Wise County. What is unique about Double Kwik, you ask me? The simple answer is their infamous pizza roll! I was raised eating their pizza rolls, and I still eat them, over thirteen years later. Their pizza roll is not just a pizza roll that you would purchase from a store and then microwave or oven to heat it. They make their pizza rolls within the store, fresh and baked, then display them on a heated counter for customers to order along with other items, such as their Philly Steak roll, which is similar to the pizza roll but features Philly Steak and cheese.
Since the day I started eating them as a toddler to this day, I eat them as an adult I don’t see any much difference, and that is a good thing because that means they stay with their original pizza roll without modifying them too much or adding other items to them because they are so good not to be changed! I am talking about flaky, buttered, toasted bread rolled with pepperoni and ham, melted inside the cheese, then topped off with parmesan. The only complaint I have is that they often run out of them. After all, everyone orders them because they are so delicious that no one can resist after taking the first bite of their pizza roll. They will keep going back for them in particular so often.
Anyone who doesn’t live in Kentucky and has tried them, I empathize with them. Hopefully, one day, Double Kwik will grow and expand outside of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Back then, it wasn’t even Double Kwik, as it was called Happy Mart. They renamed Happy Mart to Double Kwik when they began expanding by adding more convenience stores with gasoline stations throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Still, the pizza roll remains the same, which I am glad about.
If you are in Kentucky and you see a convenience store with a gasoline station, be sure to make a stop to see if they have pizza rolls! I highly recommend them. You should get two instead of one when you make a stop, because after eating the first one, you will wish you had another, which is an often-repeated pattern with many of us. Pizza Roll is not the only food they sell, as they also offer a breakfast menu, gravy with biscuits, biscuits, and egg sandwiches, among other items. However, the most important of all is their pizza roll! If you look at their menu online, there is a high chance that you will not see that they offer pizza rolls, but that does not mean that they don’t have them, so be sure to ask them when you are at the counter for some pizza rolls or often you see them in a heated display on their table.
I am rating Double Kwik’s pizza roll with 3.9, and that translates extremely good!
