A tragic day for the Deaf community

As some of you know, what happened on Wednesday, October 25th? For the past few days, after discovering what happened on that tragic day, I have been thinking over and over about what to say or how to express myself. But I have been unable to; I could not find the words because I have been left speechless or signless. Should I say something or express something about what had happened? Because if I did, it wouldn’t reverse what happened that day. What happened on that day was pure evil and hit too close to home. We are used to seeing something like that happen often everywhere. What happened on October 25th is common here in the United States, but October 25th was different. What I mean by common is that we are seeing a lot of mass shootings happening all over the United States, and that a lot of lives were taken away from them. But it was different on October 25th, 2023, because on that day, there was a mass shooting in Maine, and we thought to ourselves that it was another mass shooting that we were so used to hearing or seeing until we realized it wasn’t. On that day, there was a mass shooting in the state of Maine in Lewiston where a man named Robert…

Congratulation Troy Kotsur and CODA

I want to congratulate Troy Kotsur for winning the Oscar for Best Supporting actor and congratulate everyone involved in a movie named CODA for winning the Oscars for best picture and best adapted screenplay on March 27th! That wasn’t all; Troy Kotsur and CODA have won several awards before winning any awards from the Oscars. They won several SAG awards, such as outstanding performance by an actor in a supporting role in a motion picture (for Troy Kotsur), the best theatrical motion picture. They also won some BAFTA (Almost like Oscars but in British) and many more awards. Troy Kotsur became the second Deaf person to own an Oscar, he is the first Deaf male to win an oscar but the second to win the oscar, and the first Deaf person to win the oscar was none other than Marlee Matlin (along with the first Deaf female to win the Oscar). Marlee Matlin won the Oscar for her movie Children of a Lesser God back in 1987, so the gap for another Deaf actor or actress to win another one is enormous as it has been 35 years, so it was a way overdue, in my opinion. Both of them deserve the Oscars; I am a fan of both even though Marlee Matlin has me blocked on Twitter for some…

Letter To Comcast, NBC, NBC Sports, and Peacock

Here is a file of the formal letter. Text: Letter To Comcast, NBC, NBC Sports, and Peacock I am directing this letter to Comcast, NBC, NBC Sports, and Peacock. The NFL should also read this to influence any broadcasters to agree to allow airtime for Deaf translators when they auction the license for a network to broadcast their future Superbowl. The evening on February 13 was an exciting time and day for the Americans because they were the host of the NFL’s Superbowl LVI (56) game for the Los Angeles Rams and Cincinnati Bengals. While it was indeed an exciting time for America and the world, it was utterly disappointing to a group that has over 430 million population worldwide – the Deaf community. It was utterly disappointing because NBC, NBC Sports, and Peacock under Comcast (parent company) did not take the opportunity to be inclusive by making sure that American Sign Language interpreters for National Anthem with Sandra Mae Frank and halftime with Warren “WaWa” Snipe and Sean Forbes to share the airtime with other singers. Every Superbowl would only air a very brief, a few seconds of a person translating the National Anthem in American Sign Language, and I think that is not fair. How about disabling the entire audio during a singer(s) singing the National Anthem and…

Happy Birthday, Dear Mom!

Today is nothing more important than my mother because today is her birthday and I want to say happy birthday, my dearest mom! As some of you see, this isn’t a usual article because it is not a personal letter from me to my mother, which is the most important in the world or universe to me. Every year, celebrating my mother’s birthday is extraordinary; she is still young even though she would deny that, but it is, and she continues to be beautiful as ever. My mom is my entire life; she has done so much for me more than anyone can ever imagine, and it would take a lifetime to give my thanks to my mom because it is countless. She is more than everything; besides being the best mom in the universe, she is also my best friend in the universe. God blessed me her being my mother, she is the best person that God has chosen to be my mother, and I am very blessed to be her son although I am only a child, which is good because so I won’t have to share her with anyone (haha!). My mom and I have done so much together, we have gone through so much together, and we will continue doing that for many more years ago…

Happy New Year 2022

Here at JoshiesWorld, I wish you a very happy new year of 2022! I am sure that many of you have goals or resolutions that you would like to accomplish in the new year of 2022. That goes the same with me, which I will be sharing in a few days in a new article on here so you can get an idea of what goals or resolutions I might have for the year 2022. As we are going into a new year, we have a new page of 2022 to do something that we learned not to repeat whatever we did in 2021 that was not good or our bad mistakes. Whatever we may have done that was not good for us in 2021 never be cleansed, but in 2022 we have a new slate to do whatever can reflect us in a good way. Sure, whether our 2021 year might reflect us in a good or bad way is something that we can never erase because it has been recorded. Now, how do we want the 2022 record of ourselves to look like? It is entirely in our hands on that one. Speaking of the 2021 record, of whatever we did, whether it is good or bad that reflects who we are, we have a chance to be…

Merry Christmas 2021 From JoshiesWorld

This is Joshua “Joshie” Sullivan of JoshiesWorld. I want to write a personal letter here to all of you and wish you a Merry Christmas, along with a few tips! I hope that all of you enjoy your Christmas this year; I know that it is not the usual Christmas that many of us accustomed to as we are in a horrible pandemic that prevents many of us from being able to be with other family members or friends, especially on this special holiday day. However, we should keep our distance from others because we do not want to be the ones that expose them to this horrible virus and risk them not seeing them again next Christmas. But the good thing is that there is a technology that allows us to celebrate with our family members or friends, which is virtually such as video chat and or making a telephone call to them. Yes, it is not good as not being there to celebrate with them in person, but we must keep them all ourselves safe to spend time together again next Christmas when this pandemic is hopefully over. The technology is there, so we should take advantage of that, at least we get to celebrate with our family members or our friends while at the same time keeping…

Happy 58th Birthday, Mom!

I want to write a short personal letter on here because today is an extraordinary celebration for someone that is so dear to me and that is none other than my own mother, Brenda Sullivan! Today is her 58th birthday; I mean 30th birthday. Wait that doesn’t sound right because that would make her 3 years younger than me, and if that were the case, I wouldn’t be writing this letter. Ok, let’s say 35th, and I am just 2 years old toddler writing this. There is nothing that my mother doesn’t deserve; she deserves everything and more that I could ever possibly give her or anyone could. My mother is my world, my rock, my best friend, and my everything. Yes, I am a mom’s boy, and I am darned proud of that to say that! Nothing will ever take that away from me, not even my last breath and after. She always makes everything better in this world, and nobody can ever imagine how much she has gone through except God and me. It is beyond anyone’s imagination, and she is beyond everything to me. Even though she is my mother, she is my best friend, and not only that, and she also takes every other role that she is best at. There is no measure, size, even…

Happy Birthday, Mom!

Of course, this might be a bit different for some of you especially that I don’t write a lot of articles to celebrate something but this is my mom and it’s her birthday so of course, I am going to wish my mother nothing but very happy birthday! I am not going to mention the age because this is public and besides I don’t think it’s anyone’s business. The only important thing that I am telling my mother a very happy birthday and so I am doing that just right here! Happy birthday, mom! I hope that you have a great birthday and I love you so very much with all my heart to the moon and back to the moon! You mean everything to me, it is always an honor and joyful every time that I am with you because you always fill up the room with laughter and as well happiness. You are always my rock, you made the everything that I am and who I am today which it is something that I am very proud of because I am very confident in myself to accomplish something or to reach the goals knowing that you are always with me to help me to accomplish or to reach the goals. I always try my best to make you…
