We Want To Be Deaf And Don’t Fix Us.

I am sure that you are shocked with the title of this article, saying that we want to be Deaf and that we don’t want to be fixed. What a lot of the people doesn’t understand that being Deaf or even Hard of Hearing is a culture but several people who is audism try their darndest best to hide that and force a society to see anyone who happens to be Deaf or Hard of Hearing is a bad thing. Several people think that whoever became Deaf or Hard of Hearing whether it be at birth or afterbirth means that there is something severely wrong with them, it is because like people who is audism or an anti-cultural organizations such as Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing made the society to view us like that over a few decades ago or more like since in the year of 1880 when International Congress on the Education of the Deaf aka ICED banned any students who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing from the use of sign language to communicate. Thankfully National Association of the Deaf aka NAD was founded to protest against it and fought so hard to get the law or policy in education to allow any students or anyone who happens to be Deaf or Hard of Hearing to use American Sign Language to communicate so that helps a bit but since then these people still to this day fighting to try to destroy sign language with the help of Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Imagine if it was the other way around with English or any speaking languages, trying to ban or stop anybody from ever being able to speak with their voice or ever to write English or any other languages, would it be fair for somebody, a group of people and organization to try to deprive your language or any languages to the point that you can never communicate in any way?

Starkey Is The Enemy!

The other day I have stumbled upon some researches and watched some videos of a laboratories company named Starkey Hearing Foundation that have not just angered me but angered several individuals in the Deaf community. Starkey is a company that make hearing technology for any individuals that have a problem with hearing and Starkey have led several people to think that Starkey is the hero as it is what Starkey would want you to see them as but they are not really the hero that you thought. There are several articles or videos that have shown where there are public figures individuals such as some of United States of American former presidents like George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and our running for president Hillary Clinton gives the hearing aids to some of the people who are either Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Even the Starkey have said that their hearing technology is the treatment or the solution for anyone who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing just upsets the Deaf community even more because it is misleading as there is several Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals have said that they limits their freedom more than they have. Why does it limit Deaf or Hard of Hearing individuals freedom more? Because with these technology they cannot do some activities such as swimming, play some contact sports such as football, basketball, baseball and even hockey.

Cochlear Implant Isn’t A Cure!

As a few of you who aware of that I am hard of hearing although I would often tell everyone that I am Deaf instead but when it comes to the medical term of what I am it is hard of hearing due to no ear canal opening in my left and only a very little opening in my right ear canal. No there is no way to do a surgery to open up in both of my ear canals because the doctor said that if I were to have a surgery to open both ear canals that it would cause the entire of my face to be paralyzed because it would mess with the nerves in my face from my ears so thankfully my mother decided that she prefers me to be hard of hearing or Deaf and still be able to see me smile but now that I am adult I still would not want to have a surgery to make myself the ability to hear as I have told many of the people who I love being hard of hearing and that I do not want to be fixed so to leave it at that. Yes this means that I take the pride in being Deaf or medically hard of hearing because the culture is a such beautiful thing especially in the Deaf community so I wouldn’t do anything to change that for anything and I am sure that this irks many audiologists — Good because all audiologists does is doing harms more than goods.
