I am sure that some of you have heard of these words somewhere, whether it be auto-correction, on social media, in the news, in another country that doesn’t have much knowledge about the community as we do over here in the United States and as well some countries in Europe. By now if you haven’t realized what I am referring to by looking at the headline of this article then the words I am referring to is Deaf and Dumb or even Deaf and Mute. There was someone, who is Deaf found a words replacement suggestion in Nintendo’s store saying “Deaf and Dumb” and decided to share that on Reddit which I will provide a link to that Reddit at the end but he had shared his frustration or that he was surprised about the words replacement suggestion in Nintendo for “Deaf and Dumb” instead of Deaf in a Facebook group titled ASL That!. Asking the community about what he should respond or how to react to that, to the people’s comments in response to his concern about the “Deaf and Dumb” suggestion by Nintendo on Reddit but didn’t share the link to that part on Reddit which had me looking after the one that he was talking about so to get a better understanding of what people’s responding to…

No long time see here, I know I haven’t written a blog post in a very long time, specifically about 2 and half months to three months as the last time I have made a blog post were in April. I know I made a blog post last week but that doesn’t really count it because that was only a very short blog post to inform you all that I was sorry for not being able to write anything for that long due to health reasons and I am still dealing with that but I felt that where I have not written anything for that long that I should do something about it so I am doing something about it here. As for my health issues, I still won’t share any details because it is private matters but I can say that it is something to stop me from writing and still is but I have an idea that I should just write a few sentences and whatnot then take a break so not to put too much pressure on myself. I would like to remind many of you with a disclaimer for this that this is my view, my thought and my perception of what I see out of the people’s perception on the Deaf people because every Deaf and Hard of Hearing have different experiences, therefore, they can share what it is to be under the microscope of the people who we labeled “hearies”. I am only sharing what I have witnessed on hand from what the hearies people have a perception of the Deaf people and Hard of Hearing including myself as I am one of many Deaf people in the world. There are hundreds or thousands of news outlets, including the big names of news companies, medium companies, and unknown companies, that everybody reads daily to gather information about what is happening in this country, whether in the United States or internationally. Some people don’t follow or keep up with current events or news about what is happening locally, nationally, and globally. But several people do keep up with the news, including myself, so we can be informed about what is happening in our country here in the United States or in other countries. There are a few services that allow some of us to personalize some news that we would like to get daily under our favorite sources, such as Google News, Yahoo News, Bing News, and some news apps like that news app in iOS 10 that allows you to personalize the way news you want them to come to you. My go-to for getting some information and news is Google News, which allows me only to get most of the news from the sources/news outlet that I prefer, and there is other news related that I personalized to get.
