Opinion on Anne E. Geers’s Research

Okay, where do I start here? Please note that this is my opinion and over 70 million people in the Deaf community are welcome to share their opinion on this subject as well.

I strongly believe that the research done by Anne E. Geers may be biased or improperly researched. In her article, it stated that she studied a different three groups where one of them would have newborn to learn sign language early on, one with cochlear implantation while learning spoken language such as English and one with cochlear implantation learning sign language. In her research, she stated that the group where the newborn who had cochlear implanted and learnt spoken language could speak more clear and better reading than the other two groups. I must ask, did Anna E. Geers herself handpicked the sign language teacher to teach the child sign language? And what exactly did she mean “sign language”? Doesn’t she realize that all other sign language modes besides American Sign Language has proved to be fail and that American Sign Language has proved to be successful for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing child? Another question, wasn’t she aware of bilingual-bicultural education? The fact that American Sign Language is a visual language, a recognized language at that and it is vital that the Deaf children to learn early on in their toddler age to help the child to understand communication itself so that the child can effectively learn written English through bilingual-bicultural education (American Sign Language and English). So, her “research” on early sign language (what sign language?) exposure and cochlear implantation benefits is much as fail as any. Not only that, cochlear implants does not help anyone to understand word by word because all it does is it gives them a sound and all they are for is to help them to aware their surrounding but not what people says. Her research can do more harm to little human beings and cannot be used anywhere except it can be perceived as Anne E. Geer’s opinion only.

Deaf Cultural Genocide

I am way behind on the hot topic and news on the Deaf community in general, mainly because I have been very busy lately and I could never find the time to write an article anywhere including my blog here but at least I will share my thought about this topic “Deaf Cultural Genocide” that was going around a few weeks ago. That would be better than not sharing any thoughts of mine on that topic so here I am to give a piece of my thought on the topic that was trending in the Deaf community, several weeks ago an associate professor at Gallaudet University wrote an article stating that if anyone who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing decides to participate in the medical or science research that supposedly cure deafness by receiving genetic therapy that they would allow a form of cultural genocide and it would be unethical of them to do so. There are medical research labs or sciences especially that specialize in stem cells, compete to come up with a proven cure to eliminate the deafness either at birth or at some minimum to maximum ages for anyone who want to have the ability to hear and or that the child who was discovered Deaf after the birth to have the ability to hear at the parents’ request/wishes.

1-5-2017 Tidbits

Hey guys and women! I see that a lot of the people starts getting back to their routines, back to work, some adults being sent back to the colleges and some children being sent back to schools which I am sure that some of the parents are a bit happy about that since with their children being sent back to school would give them a little relief or some room to breathe after trying to handle these wild children for a couple of the weeks due to Christmas break. My mother is a special aide at a middle school as she has been for more than a decade or two, she assists the children with some kinds of special needs and I think she has worked for so many years so I sometimes would ask her to retire so that I could have my mother at home without having to worry about if something was to happen to her there. For some reason, as the years goes by I starts getting more worried over her going to work because I believe that if she is to retire that she would have much less risks to her health and by retiring I believe that she will continue to be very healthy as she is now. When my aunt broke her ankle in different three or four places by falling over the steps outside of the house and we looked it as her just having a broken ankle but down the road after few days of breaking her ankle she passed away due to blood clot from it which that can be prevented only if the doctors over at ARH in South Williamson, Ky gives her blood thinners medicine as some of the people does especially after certain surgeries but unfortunately the doctors didn’t give her blood thinners medicine so in result of that we lost her. Breaking her ankle was what starts the dominos effect, from broken ankles in two or three parts to her death and I believe if I remember correctly that it was one weeks or no longer than two weeks after her surgery for her broken ankle she passed away.

We Want To Be Deaf And Don’t Fix Us.

I am sure that you are shocked with the title of this article, saying that we want to be Deaf and that we don’t want to be fixed. What a lot of the people doesn’t understand that being Deaf or even Hard of Hearing is a culture but several people who is audism try their darndest best to hide that and force a society to see anyone who happens to be Deaf or Hard of Hearing is a bad thing. Several people think that whoever became Deaf or Hard of Hearing whether it be at birth or afterbirth means that there is something severely wrong with them, it is because like people who is audism or an anti-cultural organizations such as Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing made the society to view us like that over a few decades ago or more like since in the year of 1880 when International Congress on the Education of the Deaf aka ICED banned any students who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing from the use of sign language to communicate. Thankfully National Association of the Deaf aka NAD was founded to protest against it and fought so hard to get the law or policy in education to allow any students or anyone who happens to be Deaf or Hard of Hearing to use American Sign Language to communicate so that helps a bit but since then these people still to this day fighting to try to destroy sign language with the help of Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. Imagine if it was the other way around with English or any speaking languages, trying to ban or stop anybody from ever being able to speak with their voice or ever to write English or any other languages, would it be fair for somebody, a group of people and organization to try to deprive your language or any languages to the point that you can never communicate in any way?

AG Bell Is At It Again!

AG Bell in short for Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, generally in the eyes of public AG Bell is just short for Alexander Graham Bell himself who is known for being inventor as he have invented phone that everybody uses inside their household but its eyes of the Deaf community the name AG Bell itself is shortened for Alexander Graham Bell Association for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing as both of these are practically same nonetheless. In the recent news, AG Bell have just detonated the ticking bomb not only in the Deaf community but also some professionals who is experts in the languages itself as there were a conference where AG Bell gave presentation by none other than the president of AG Bell, Meredith K. Sugar and in her presentation at a conference she declared that American Sign Language which is Deaf and Hard of Hearing’s native language is animal for any Deaf or Hard of Hearing child to learn. To be exact she declared that bilingualism is animal for any Deaf or Hard of Hearing child to learn, which referring to two languages in a package; American Sign Language and English is animal for anyone to learn. How does bilingualism works? When a Deaf or Hard of Hearing child born, that child would learn its native language which is American Sign Language as their first language so that the child have the ability to communicate at later in their life and then once their brain have developed to the point that they know how to communicate then they start learning English so they would know two languages which is what every business or colleges always look for in their application because they like anyone who is bilingual that fluent in more than one language.

Cochlear Implant Isn’t A Cure!

As a few of you who aware of that I am hard of hearing although I would often tell everyone that I am Deaf instead but when it comes to the medical term of what I am it is hard of hearing due to no ear canal opening in my left and only a very little opening in my right ear canal. No there is no way to do a surgery to open up in both of my ear canals because the doctor said that if I were to have a surgery to open both ear canals that it would cause the entire of my face to be paralyzed because it would mess with the nerves in my face from my ears so thankfully my mother decided that she prefers me to be hard of hearing or Deaf and still be able to see me smile but now that I am adult I still would not want to have a surgery to make myself the ability to hear as I have told many of the people who I love being hard of hearing and that I do not want to be fixed so to leave it at that. Yes this means that I take the pride in being Deaf or medically hard of hearing because the culture is a such beautiful thing especially in the Deaf community so I wouldn’t do anything to change that for anything and I am sure that this irks many audiologists — Good because all audiologists does is doing harms more than goods.
