Google, Reconsider YouTube Requirements

Google have decided to change their policy on their monetization system for YouTube, anyone who has less than 1,000 subscribers and less 4,000 views annually (both combined will be required) will be affected if they already are accepted in their monetization system for their YouTube channels. I must say that I disagree with this idea, because Google didn’t realize that there are many Deaf and Hard of Hearing people who uses YouTube has very hard time getting any subscribers because they use their native language in their videos which is American Sign Language so this greatly limits their audience in general. Even, myself I don’t have that much subscribers although I do have the views on my YouTube channel which has been registered since the year of 2008 or earlier I believe, and I am myself Deaf so therefore I only use my native language in my videos which is American Sign Language, so I can only reach to a very limited audience due to that. Deaf and Hard of Hearing YouTube users has hard time getting subscribers because most YouTube users uses different vocal languages while we only use visual languages, and this isn’t only American Sign Language but also many other country’s sign language such as British Sign Language (BSL) or Latino Sign Language (LSL), etc. I ask Google of YouTube to please reconsider their change on these requirements and be more reasonable as this is targeted for majority of the people that uses vocal languages while forgetting the people who uses visual languages. As for YouTubers who has less than 1,000 subscribers and less 4,000 views altogether will lose their monetization on February 20.

Blogger and Blogger Privileges

I rarely would talk about this sort of subjects on blogging and as a blogger because it seems that a lot of bloggers wrote articles with answers that anyone who is curious about what a blogger is and the privileges that the blogger has but I saw some trending news about what had happened between a blogger and a hotel calls White Moose Café. A blogger named Elle Darby, for some reason White Moose Café called her a blogger when it is a vlogger but I will be the one to call her a vlogger here because it is a proper title, Elle Darby e-mailed a hotel named White Moose Café with a business proposal that she would advertise the hotel business in her videos and told White Moose Café that she is a social media influencer with a certain numbers of followers which I cannot exactly remember what she has because she is unheard of (sorry – you aren’t that much of a influencer apparently) so that she could bring a lot of traffic to the hotel’s business in return that she could be commissioned with free nights. She said that her and her partner (I believe?) had planned on to visit Ireland for Valentine’s Day, that she was in searching for a place to book for a stay for a few nights and that she had stumbled upon this “stunning” hotel – White Moose Café. The hotel manager named Paul Stenson was offended by Elle Darby’s business proposal via e-mail, so the hotel manager Paul Stenson decided to respond to her e-mail by taking a screenshot of Elle Darby’s business proposal e-mail and shared it to the internet publicly with her personal information redacted. Elle Darby then made a vlog in response to that, saying that the manager of White Moose Café had humiliated her in public and from there the hotel manager Paul Stenson decided to throw the gasoline to the flame by announcing that the hotel would ban bloggers from booking a stay over at the hotel which this was also announced in public on social media. For some reason, I cringed but the hotel manager Paul Stenson called it Bloggergate when it had nothing to do with blogging in the first place because this is vlogging and should have called it vloggergate instead.

I Support Net Neutrality

I see that a lot of people in my circle, this including both hearie community and deaf community are very concerned about Federal Communications Commission’s decision on repealing Net Neutrality. I am very glad that a lot of concerns going around because Net Neutrality is a serious matter for many of us, however I also seen many people who are either confused or misleading some others about what Net Neutrality is all about and what impact that it can do if Net Neutrality were to be repealed. First, Net Neutrality is not a law as some people seems to think they are and Net Neutrality is a policy made by Federal Communications Commission which is a federal agency that were founded by government to be the policymakers for the telecommunications. Federal government has several agencies to regulate some things, such as Federal Communications Commission were created by government to regulate television cable, radio, internet, wire, satellite and anything else that has to do with airwaves through the likes of satellites in space as they are what allows us to connect to some things through the airwaves such as internet (including cellular data), radio, television cable or others. Just like Health and Human Services is one of federal government’s agency to regulate healthcare, Medicare, Medicaid and anything else that has to do with our health or our wellbeing. So, you get the idea of Federal Communications Commission now and what authority or power they have which can be in a way good thing to limit the limitless power of the government under one roof to regulate everything – although they can but once they did they would have to go to these agencies to regulate them. Most of these agencies are meant to be independent but unfortunately, they assign anyone who has the same political party as the President or most of both senates and house.

No long time see you since I last wrote an article, on fourth (4th) of this month November! But I am back to write another article, snippets article once again and I have a couple of topics that I would like to share my thoughts on. Before I go ahead with this article, I must ask how all of you are and how was your Thanksgiving yesterday?! Did you have a great feast?! Thanksgiving holiday always give us people a good excuse to stuff our stomach with a lot of foods because usually on Thanksgiving we get to have all kinds of foods that we only see once a year especially in numbers of foods that is being served and a great excuse for some people to take a power nap because turkey always makes us sleepy after stuffing our faces with it. Thanksgiving is not only an excuse for a feast but also a good excuse for family and friend’s gatherings especially in numbers as well – we had over 14 people under our roof yesterday for Thanksgiving which broke the record of how many people we had for Thanksgiving. Unfortunately, they weren’t mine and my mother’s family as they were Chad’s family; Chad is my mother’s boyfriend for close to twenty years. Mine and my mother’s family are no longer here with us as they have passed away so only family that carried on is both of us which is great because we still have each other so that is what I am very thankful for.

How are you doing today? I hope that all of you are doing very well, I am doing well myself although I have been very busy lately and I am getting a bit more excited that the summer is coming to end because if you recall in a few of articles that I have written a while back that I am a big fan of winter. Because of the snow and the cold weather if its average temperature for cold such as 20-30 degrees because if under that then it would become somewhat intolerable for me. Not only that, while I do love snow but I don’t like when they get to the point that we would be stuck for a long time or on these days when we have an appointment with the doctors of ours and whatnot but if it’s snowed in on the days that we are not needed somewhere then that is what I am all for as long as we don’t lose electricity. Did you all enjoyed your summer so far? We only have about a month before the temperature will start drops drastically especially in the last weeks of September to first week of October unless the mother’s nature isn’t ready (climate change). I know I haven’t written a snippets article since a few weeks ago, mainly because I didn’t have much of topics on my list to share my opinions on and over these weeks I have written some topics that comes to my mind slowly until I feel that I have enough of them to write a snippets article.

How are you all today or tonight?! I hope that all of you are doing well and I am doing well myself. I know it’s shocking that I decided to write another post for the blog in this short of time since I last wrote an article as lately I haven’t been that much of active in blogging world. I have tried to push myself back to where I can at least write two articles per week, but I can’t promise that I will because I don’t want to promise something that I might end up breaking and I don’t like breaking any promises if there were a promise made by me to somebody. Anyway, here I am with another snippet for you all to read and I probably will only do a short one tonight because I am not exactly in the mood to write an article for the blog. Really, I haven’t been in mood for anything lately and not only that I haven’t been feeling well myself for a week now. Summer is running out; this year is probably the shortest and quickest summer I have ever felt or seen because all the students and employees going back to school on August 7th which is in one week from now. But again, as I have said before, probably in a lot of articles that I am not really a fan of the heat and that I truly love the winter more than all the seasons. Because of the temperature? To some extent, yes but not only that, because I love the feeling of seeing the snows sticks to the ground here at home and it makes me feel homey. If we aren’t dangerously stuck here because it’d be bad if we were to be stuck and we need to get to the emergency room for something or when we have appointments for something. I guess, I don’t mind being snowed in as long as we still have the power, water and whatnot along with the road cleared only on these days that we must go somewhere such as our doctor appointments, to shop for grocery or to pay bills for something.
