Deaf Cultural Genocide

I am way behind on the hot topic and news on the Deaf community in general, mainly because I have been very busy lately and I could never find the time to write an article anywhere including my blog here but at least I will share my thought about this topic “Deaf Cultural Genocide” that was going around a few weeks ago. That would be better than not sharing any thoughts of mine on that topic so here I am to give a piece of my thought on the topic that was trending in the Deaf community, several weeks ago an associate professor at Gallaudet University wrote an article stating that if anyone who is Deaf or Hard of Hearing decides to participate in the medical or science research that supposedly cure deafness by receiving genetic therapy that they would allow a form of cultural genocide and it would be unethical of them to do so. There are medical research labs or sciences especially that specialize in stem cells, compete to come up with a proven cure to eliminate the deafness either at birth or at some minimum to maximum ages for anyone who want to have the ability to hear and or that the child who was discovered Deaf after the birth to have the ability to hear at the parents’ request/wishes.

Reflection of ’16 & Happy New Year ‘17

Hey guys and women! I would like to wish all of you a very happy new year 2017! I am sure that some of your nights are still going on as it is still early night at 2:20AM and I hope that those of you who party with alcohol to be careful with deciding about driving because I highly recommend that you call a taxi or uber to drive you home. Even though if you aren’t drinking it is still dangerous to be driving on the road especially tonight since it is the new year and I am certain that there is a lot of people whose driving drunk so keep your eyes out for them. Everyone is celebrating the New Year, as everybody have every right to celebrate the new year but I am somewhat not in mood for celebration because there are a few reasons which I will share a bit later below. I watched the New Year ball drops as we always watch the ball drops on New Year eve every year, we would celebrate every year until tonight we are starting to realize that it feels as if it is just another day even though we know that it is the New Year and now I don’t really see the point in celebrating for the New Year. I guess everyone have different opinions or thoughts about the New Year, I did as we used to celebrate the New Year traditionally with the family and now it is just both me and my mother as our family have been decreased so that’s one of many reasons that we rarely celebrate the holidays.

Language Deprivation.

Language is a very important tool for communication otherwise we as human beings would not have a way to communicate with each others, pardon me I am actually wrong because as I wrote that I just realized that the human beings can communicate with each others using gestures or by visual but still a language is what makes it easier for us human beings to communicate with each others and thankfully there is a very long list of languages that allows us human beings to communicate with each others. Each language is in within’ our DNA, in other words our native language that we inherited from the earlier generations or the first language that we learned after the birth so that we can be able to communicate with our parents or to kickstart our education because without language then how are we able to learn? The language is very essential in our life, the language that we comfortably understand and communicate smoothly with others. Now there are a very large group, some organizations and even corporations always set out to make sure that we communicate using their language preference such as English here in the United States therefore they are on the look to deprive our native language by trying their darndest best to convince many of us human beings that their language preference will make us more successful in a long run than our own native language that we inherited from the many generations of our families or to try to come up with false medical information such as saying that using our own native language over their language preference will cause us to have a brain cancer or similar (it’s true, Starkey Foundation is one perfect example of that).

Snowstorm Jonas in Pike Co, Ky.

There were the warnings going off the hook on Thursday evening in the surroundings of Belfry areas in Pike County in the center of east in the state of Kentucky in United States that were telling everyone who resides in these areas in the Pike County, Ky to be prepared for a huge snowstorm that was coming over from in the morning on Friday to this evening on Saturday and that we would be getting the range in 15 inches to 20 inches of snow as the weather services says so of course this caused a panic to many people to where that they had to make a trip to the grocery store to buy some essentials including foods to be prepared for the snowstorm which they named it the Winter Snowstorm Jonas. In the warnings it said that we would be getting hit with around 30 mile per hours of gust/wind along with heavy snow and that it would very likely to cause power outage which that caused the power provider AEP Kentucky Power to call in additional crewmen for emergency assistance which comes from all over such as the state of Indiana, state of South Carolina, state of Michigan and others to standby for when we have power outage that would be affected from the snowstorm Jonas. As the Thursday disappearing on the horizon with Friday appearing at midnight, just a few hours later in a very early morning we were suddenly under attack of the snowstorm Jonas everywhere including the eastern part of United States and while the clock ticking every hour as the snowstorm Jonas kept on hitting us heavily from Friday morning to Friday evening then they finally eased up but that was just the beginning and a couple of hours later we were under attack once again by snowstorm Jonas until Friday midnight they finally becomes lighter. Then comes this morning on Saturday the snowstorm showed us that our thoughts of them disappeared were wrong as they came back but thankfully this time it was a bit lighter than they were at us on Friday.
